Haha, this old chestnut. If it's all sublimated then how can that theory be possible? Why would BLK move numbers down for Brisbane and Gold Coast but not Richmond or one of their other teams? It just doesn't make sense; the only thing I put it down to is lazy and poor designing.
I think Brisbane and GC were the only teams with BLK who thought it. I heard it from Mero in last years New Jumpers thread, and nobody questioned him.

Took these in the store today:

The material feels better but its still faded.

It's just not logical though. The manufacturer would have to know – it's not like they're going to take the chance on a couple of teams and then expect names on a couple of other teams.

Re the Toyota logo on the back of the Crows jumpers...

I have no issue per-se with the positioning of the Toyota logo on the back. Considering the way they've done the hoops, I think its the best way to execute it. You have to think about how the numbers work, and once they're on, it will look fine. If the logo was moved in line with one of the hoops, it would look out of place. See my crude examples below to see how it works:

You can see that with the home, the logo sits neatly in between the bottom of the number, and the top of the red hoop. Its exactly the same on the clash, except that where the first red hoop would normally be, is actually where a big expanse of white begins. That makes it look slightly odd, but as you can see, if they went with "Option A", then the logo - although in line with the middle hoop - would look cramped up against the number (equally, if it was moved down in line with the navy hoop, it would be in no mans land).

Some people are suggesting a white box over full hoops - as demonstrated in "Option B" - but that to me looks rather cramped. I've thrown up what I think should have been the design - "Option C" - which is similar to what they've done on the last couple of clash jumpers and personally what I think would look cleanest.

As an aside, I also think they should have gone with a sequence of navy-red-gold for the clash hoops. To me, this is the actual order of our hoops - its just that the first navy hoop actually extends to be something of a yoke. Of course, this wouldn't work for the gold clash jumper as the gold hoop would simply disappear, but I still would have liked navy as the first hoop.

**Disclaimer - all of the above is based on rational, logical thought processes. If the final product doesn't end up looking and working as described, then its just another botch job by the fine BLK folk.

Are you sure the one on the left isn't a youth jumper? Logos tend to have different sizing/positioning on those.

EDIT: Didn't see this:

The PI also had the sponsor down low.

Perhaps they got special permission for a one off as to not cover the poppies?

There's not many decent photos of it, but it was lower to be below the sash.

And my post was made to show that the AFL will allow the sponsor to move from the standard position.

Besides the fact that it would look shit so far down, I'm not sure whether they'd allow it for a regular jumper worn for nearly half of the matches a year. Although that Mission logo on the Dogs jumpers seems to keep moving.

Would not be surprised if there's clauses in toyota agreement that say it must be clearly visable.

Probably why they went from the red text to white.

Wish they'd go back to the gold like we used to have for so long. I figured they left that to go to their corporate colours, but if they've changed to white they obviously don't care about that too much.

Gold is my overwhelming preference, but i think they decided initially to go with full branding look (silver logo, red text).

Then once they realised you could barely read it, they went with white.

At least they didn't go with silver logo/red text in a white box on the home. That would have been a disaster!

Most corporate logos have a "priority list" of colours.
I'd say with Toyota it'd be (1)White on red (2) Silver logo, red lettering on dark (3)white on dark (4) black on white
or something similar.

I highly doubt "Yellow on navy" was one of those.
They would have come to a point where they wanted their branding on the guernsey consistent with their branding everywhere else in the market.

For example, this is the AFL's:

As much as you have to respect the Hawks on-field achievements..and as a crows fan I do.

There's just no way on Earth to make Brown and yellow/Gold look good. I Cant think of a single pro or college team in the USA(yanks are the kings of marketing) that uses this colour scheme.
Their home is a nice looking piece of kit.

Needs more long sleeves though

That's why they're going with a darker brown these days. The original light poo brown looks terrible
It is as equally as aesthetically pleasing as it is Richmond-esque.

Hawthorn don't need to, but personally I'd appreciate it if they'd kept their lighter brown. It kept them more distinct and as a bonus it's traditional.

The Denver Broncos were originally brown and gold but quickly changed to orange and blue once colour tv came in

Hawthorn's colours are mocked constantly but at least their realistic to their moniker.

Most hawks would be around that Brown and Gold colour. Don't see many blue and white kangaroos these days.
I'm still waiting for a red white and blue bulldog to be a thing.
