Man, I'm just gonna say it. I'm really, really annoyed by these kits. And you know what? Its not the Hungry Jacks logo. What they've gone for is far better than the giant square West Coast had in 2018.

Nope, my issue first and foremost is with the ditching of the gold jumper. Why get rid of it?! It was perfect! Fulfilled the role greatly, arguably better than the red version. There was no need to ditch either of them, just keep both and use whichever is best in each scenario. I'll admit its a bit divisive, with the fan base seemingly split down the middle of either loving it or hating it without much middle ground, but on the couple of occasions we've tried to get a gold clash jumper happening, the club immediately give in to the haters and ditch it without giving it a chance and letting it grow on people. I held off buying the 2021 kit because I didn't want the names all over it, but I guess I'll have to go out and buy one now because who knows if it will ever come back?

On top of that...

They didn't fix the order of the hoops on the red jumper, even though they have it right on the SANFL version. If you're going to bastardise one because they need to be different for whatever reason, then make it the reserves one.

The collar is trash. We seem to get lumped with these split/bib collars all the time. Our jumper always looks far better with a full gold collar. Not to mention the inconsitency in application between the home and away.

The removal of a hoop on the back to accommodate the HJ's logo is terrible. It might be seen as preferable to a white box over the design, but even better would have been to thicken up the hoops back to the early 90's style which would have pushed that second set on the front further down and allowed them to pass under the back logo uninterrupted.

Ugh. We just seemed to be so close to perfection and we've gone and taken a giant leap backwards.

Really like this breakdown. Have to agree with everything.

O'Neill's had one of the best collars in the league. Bold and simple. I really, really, really will never understand the fetish so many designers have for trying to introduce or rearrange the split collars/bibs. They look messy and often they look weak, and borderline silly in some cases.

Is it just me or could the Adelaide jumper need the logo re done like the Bulldogs did with Mission when they first started? It looks oversize for me.

Agreed on every single front here. On the red jumper though, was that brought in as some sort of anniversary celebration? The order is the same as the SA state jumper, and as that's obviously where the club's colours are derived from it kind of makes sense. Still a bit weird though given this was the first time you guys had rocked a set of three recoloured jumpers, you'd think the uniformity would be done right.

I'm assuming the reason the yellow was ditched in favour of the red would just be practicality, was a bit weird having a clash jumper that you can't wear against one of the teams you "clash" with (Hawthorn). But yeah all in all a step backwards from 2021, you guys had one of the best jumper sets in the league and O'Neills were awesome last year.

Feel like the SoO thing is giving them too much credit but I suppose its a possibility.

You’re right that the gold clash doesn’t work against Hawthorn, but as we saw this year the red wasn’t exactly great either. Possibly the blue cuffs (numbers too?) might help. But I’d argue the red won’t work against the likes of Melbourne in particular, and even teams like Essendon and Brisbane. Having both options just made so much sense.

Lions have played with white shorts and home before vs Adelaide I'm pretty sure. That or if we keep our white away, could always play with maroon shorts
