apparently it was accidentally leaked by collingwood player trey ruscoe via his insta storybeaten to it but wondering if it is real
I haven't bought a guernsey for years but if they sell a long sleeve version I'm going to be all about thisi feel it's for gather round
I wonder who owns the actual magpie design? I know it was first seen on an Adidas jumper but Collingwood having been sell some merch with it for a little while now. I would have loved the original design to come back for this guernsey.Surely they’ve let a 10 year old design the magpie for a make a wish or something, no way else Nike would let that go into production.
This excites me for what swans can have for the ‘V’ even though they can’t do anything else to it
The club owns the 'Swooping Magpie' design, they've been selling it on merch for the last several years which proves this to be the case.I wonder who owns the actual magpie design? The strangest part is they’ve tried to recreate a jumper from 20 years ago, and fluffed it.View attachment 1614138View attachment 1614150
In a strange way, this version of the Swoop (colours inverted) looks like an attempt by Collingwood in the early/mid 80s to make a kid friendly jumper for merchandise, with the 2002/04 Swoop looking more like a modern reimagining of that old classic design.
The addition of the stripes makes it bearable but I seriously can't believe Nike of all companies couldn't even come close to replicating, let alone improving and further modernising the magpie design (sharper edges, whatever). It just doesn't look menacing or stark at all like the original did.
I also refuse to believe this crap about Adidas holding onto the vector file of this 15+ year old magpie design under lock and key like its the krabby patty formula. It was a design they used for a couple of seasons and never returned even after still being with Adidas for 7 seasons after to design was dropped, for a club there's no guarantee they'll ever return to manufacturing for. This is all aside from the fact the club has been selling merch under the swooping magpie range for a few years now with the exact same magpie.
The more I think about it the more strange it seems
Absolutely it's not the worst design in isolation, but when you're trying to honour and (presumably) improve on a design from 20 years ago and that design from 20 years ago actually looks far better, something's gone wrong lolThe strangest part is they’ve tried to recreate a jumper from 20 years ago, and fluffed it.
Sbs recently started using indigenous names for the weather. Gives a good idea on some of the names other teams could go by. Do think they can find different names, even if it's the direct translation for the clubs mascot. You would assume even if they are under the same language group that there would be a place within that area they could name themselves after.
Port and Adelaide would both fall in Kaurna country but Port could easily use the name Yertabulti, which was the traditional name for the area around the Port River, for example.
Funny how the addition (and removal) of different design elements changes designsA few pages ago you all hated the magpie, now it's on a jumper a few of you are losing your minds for it
Would love “Tarndanya Koa” for Sir Doug Nicholls rounds and NAIDOC week.Sbs recently started using indigenous names for the weather. Gives a good idea on some of the names other teams could go by.
