Siphoning these things off to other groups happens a lot in England and the US once you drop out of the top divisions and leagues. Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League have a deal where a third party organises the teamwear. the Wanderers wear Adidas but they're not sponsored by them at all.

The middleman makes the money by running the shop.

It's a bit different to the system now where Belgravia make the apparel but put on a New Balance logo. what do Belgravia get out of it? genuinely curious. do they make the money from the collar sponsor? and even more curious... why do New Balance want to get involved? they're not in a prominent spot and the only place their logo sits is on shorts and coach's polos.

Surely Delaware North are going to struggle. they don't produce clothing. it's not like there's 15 manufacturers all trotting out teamwear like in the round ball game.

Are Collingwood going to ship off the jumper to a seller and provider who will get it manufactured by someone else, this someone else shopping around a ghost 'apparel sponsor?' you're dealing with about five different entities here. not sure how that'll slow or improve quantity issues.

Would love to know what the go is.

No disrespect to clubs like North and GWS, but they do have some of the smallest fanbases in the league. It struck me as odd that Puma (which is a massive company) would go after those clubs when they're much bigger clubs out there that would be more advantageous to them. Unless the deal was small, because the optics of having a top brand is enough that some clubs wouldn't mind not earning as much. I could see a club like Essendon being perfect for them. Although, I really want adidas to rejoin the league. Their quality is unmatched.

All Collingwood merch operations to be done by Delaware North.

This means that CFC will no longer have any involvement with suppliers, this will reduce issues of supply issues and poor quality (ie. no gold patches)

To my knowledge, this is the first team to outsource their retail store. Expect more teams to partner with DN.
I’d be looking at changing apparel partners first…

Surprised Puma aren’t already doing Collingwood and Essendon? Well Essendon is the rumour this year but working with the Pies is a no brainer. Would make heaps of $$.
I think if Adidas rejoins the league, they would be perfect for your club. It seems at one point Puma pulled out of the AFL, then they went back in pretty hard. Wouldn't surprise me if they went back to clubs like Adelaide, West Coast and Brisbane. Clubs that have a history with them.

Absolutely. Either would be elite. Eagles would be a perfect fit IMO.

There were rumours recently that the Pies looked at Puma but decided on Adidas, not sure if it will happen although the club website has had a massive Nike sale on since the H&A season ended and they just added an extra 25% off. Unlike that to happen when you compare it to previous seasons so hopefully that is a sign they were moving to something new.
