Do you honestly feel better about yourself constantly making crass comments and insults after every post I produce on this board ?

I happen to think that there is more worthy things to do with your time then just follow my posts around on the Carlton board and slag me off, ad nauseum ..

There ARE more worthy things....

Now write out 100 times 'Romani ite domum', and if it's not done by sunrise........

Can't quite see the relevance of the last 2 posts to the MaGuire discussion, still I guess these posts are what give BF its enviable reputation

What kind of a comment is "if you can't make it in the St.Kilda defence you can't make it"? Imagine how bad our defence was then using that comparison. Come on. You're smarter than that.

Of course he'd get a game with us on this season. He'd be one of the first defender picked. It's 2009 now, not 2006 when Rocca mauled him as a skinny, first year kid. Midfield does part of the defensive job with pressure but, if you have a great midfield but a crap defence, you'll be in trouble. Simple knowledge of the game tells us that or why pick defenders. Let's have 22 midfielders.

While admittedly their game plan helps alot St.Kilda still conceded less points than any other side in history while managing to score themselves. Dawson was outstanding all year. He didn't keep the likes of Max Hudgton, no mean feat in itself, and Maguire out of the team. Let's face it, Hudgton would've walked into our team. With Dawson, Gilbert, Hudgton and Dawson I say it was one hard defence to break into.

Lyon has the saints putting pressure all over the ground.
IF dawson played for US... he would be smashed!!!!

And he is crap...

and yes... if you cant get a game ahead of Dawson or a 34 year old Hudgton... who was also struggling and subsequently retired.. youre just a shythouse defender... (MaGuire

Can people please stop referring to Maguire as a 'cripple' (I have met a few disabled people before who have found that term very offensive) It is a nasty term that is used to 'deingrate' handicapped people.

Just because Goose is training with us, doesn't mean we'll pick him up in the draft, some club may choose to use their 3rd pick in the ND on Goose to gazzump Carlton.
He is just training at the club, and isn't guaranteed anything.

Pretty rich coming from you cp ..some of the stuff you have posted here has been very offensive, you know that saying about cleaning up your own backyard.

Feels pretty good actually, keeping an aggressive, racist, misogynistic, shit-stirring piece of crap like you in the spotlight. :thumbsu: And I'll keep doing it till you're gone, you feeble-minded drop-kick. :)

Love your work Thy :thumbsu:

Watch out St Kilda match committee!!

The same match committee who didn't deem Maguire worthy of a game for the entire season. But hey, perhaps next year they should consult with you and your mates on any selection issues they might be having?

LMFAO :thumbsu:

And yes, we struggled without Jamison, Waite and Austin against Brisbane, and Bower playing on one leg. Take Scarlett, Taylor and Harley out of Geelong's backline and they'd probably struggle too. It's not every day that three of your best tall backs are all out injured...

Fair Point!

And now we come to the salient point: Maguire most likely wouldn't have made a shred of difference against Brisbane. A slow defender is pretty much useless. The fact that he adds depth to the team means nothing, if that depth isn't of a good quality (remember Adam Hartlett?).

Just for your interest, I'd recommend that you follow this link and look at the videos of Levi Casboult and Daniel Archer. Obviously videos don't tell the entire story about a player, but both are tall forwards/utilities and are line ball to be drafted this year; perhaps late national draft/rookie prospects.

Tell me you wouldn't be more in favour of taking a punt on one of these kids with a late pick instead of recycling a player with a future as limited as Maguire's?

I hope we can pick up Daniel Archer early (or Butcher if he is still available at #12) and then pick up Maguire with a later pick. I'd still like to see CFC give Maguire a go at CHB, he isn't going to take Aussies spot, and I dare say that he would be dropped if he can't cut it in the best 22. Still worth a punt with a late pick I say.

Cripple.

I bet you $20 that CP was the person who called someone a cripple to their face just to upset them.

Sigh ...

Anyhow back on topic, I would rather Carlton take a punt on Goose with a 5th or 6th rnd pick then a kid who is more then likely a speculative pick, and not be any good at AFL level.

Well if he nominates for PSD he's almost certainly going to end up at Carlton, I think pretty much ether other club have their sights set on they want in the PSD ...
Welcome to Carlton GOOSE :D

BTW Surely a half-fit Maguire at Carlton would be better then a big girls blouse who can't kick and causes more turnovers then a bakery in Christine Johnson ???

Remind me what year Maguire was All Australian?

I think Austin has possibly the most potential out of all our young defenders. Maguire was playing awful football before his injuries (Jason Cloke style), and I think he is a spent force as a player.

I think you might actually be surprised just how far Goose has slipped...

I'd back our young defenders over somebody whose last half-decent season was in 2005 any day.

ROFL :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

if we take this 'GOOSE' then hopefully its only to play for the bullants in case one of bower, thornton, austin, jamo, waite ...... setant,CALEB TILLER, BRAD FISHER get injured

Actually Brad Fisher is on his last legs, and I doubt he'll get a game next year for Carlton, whereas I still think there is a chance the Goose has got some 'petrol' left in the tank.,

my point is id rather take a kid but if we did pick up mm then id have him behind all our current players. as long as he's not a walk up in our 22 then thats ok.

Personally Goose would be 'insurance' and worth a gamble IMHO ...
I would actually play him as another tall foward instead of a backman (like he was for Sandringham many times this season in the VFL)

What people forget is that in the last 10 years, carlton has only picked up two decent players in the Pre-Season draft, Nick Stevens and Eddie Betts, so it's not as if we'd be overlooking a young gun with that pick.
From all reports Maguire is a hard working player with a great attitude (source Peaky from SEN :D) and i'd be happy for the club to give him another chance.

Dont ROFL me Blue tounge!

2 of my "mates" played for Box Hill seniors. Although they may not be as important as the Saints match committee they would no doubt be a far better judge of his capabilites than 99% on this board. As they regularly played against AFL listed players aslong as 2 years ago.

Ralph Clarke played in a grandfinal team that lost by 2 goals.....I wouldn't be getting on my knees for the Saints MC just yet.

Just got off the phone with the Wombats at the AFL. Uncontracted players which include Delisted players (plenty from clubs who haven't announced them yet prior to the next List Lodgement on Friday @ 2pm), have until next Wednesday 18th @ 2pm to nominate for the National Draft.

Therefore McGuire and plenty of others may take their chance of being picked up in the first draft. Who knows just who will be moved on and indeed who will nominate. ;)

Ooooo 'Touchy' eh? :p I didn't 'ROFL' at you, I was 'LMFAO' at the sarcasm of Sharks on a Plane ...and I still think it's ****in' hilarious! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I don't mean to doubt the obviously super-judgement of Your Mates ...ROFL...for the record, I happen to agree with you on the Goose issue (and I also think Lyon is a knob).

What's 'Ralph' (LOL) Clarke got to do with it? I didn't think he was worthy of a spot in the GF anyway. He is scared to go near anything that looks like a contest where he might get hurt! IMO I thought Luke Ball was one of St.Kilda's top 3 on the day (along with Baker and Gram) and the Saints don't think much of him either! I'm no fan of the Saint's MC!

Still LMFAO! :D
