Next Monday, what a game we have!

75,000 for mine, should be a good game, but unfortunately they usually seem to be one sided and from memory their really hasn't been a close one for quite a while. I think last year it was fairly close but Melbourne looked pretty comfortable. I expect a different story this time around.:thumbsu:

tarrant adds a lot to our structure and carrol is a spud - wouldnt get a game anywhere else - doesnt have the pace ot stamina to stay with tarrant - and you killed us last year because we had our williamstown reserves playing - now that we are almost full strength we can pencil this match in
Carroll goes alright, did a bloody good job on Riewoldt today

Melbourne will have to put a four quarter effort in to win which we haven't done yet this year.

Plus no Whelan or Miller in the backline is a massive blow.

I have serious doubts we can win. Although if Johnstone decides to join the party some time soon and play a bit, we might be a chance.
Also Robbo, Davey and Green to get a few kicks wouldn't hurt.

Meh, this is Melbourne, I can't predict anything.

My point exactly.

In the last 8 weeks both Melbourne and Collingwood have only lost games to Adelaide and West Coast. During that time Melbourne have knocked off Freo, St Kilda and Sydney - all top 8 sides.

Pretenders, my arse. this is going to be a great game, Collingwood have more to prove imo.

I can't honestly remember Neitz doing anything against the Pies on QB. Pies will win - lock it in Eddie!!

don't remember 2004?

Fair enough, I'd erase that from my memory as well if I barracked for Collingwood.

Tarrant means little, Rivers completely owns him.

I think we will struggle to match up on rocca and tarrant but if melbourne can keep the pressure on in the midfield like yesterday influencing the delivery of the ball into collingwoods F50 they will have minimal inpact like reidwolt and gehrig had today. They didnt have a chance yesterday.

N E I T Z - what one quarter of one game against the Pies means alot does it?? He started well and did sweet FA after that. It was Johnstone and Holland that kept you in the game, then your front-runners all came to the party in the last quarter.

Don't worry - I remember!! Do you??

As for Taz - the proof will be in the pudding.

My mistake. I phrased that badly. In the last 10 weeks Collingwood, and 8 weeks for Melbourne, both teams have only lost to WCE and Adelaide.

Surely that shapes this game up as being a decent contest.

You have no idea mate, Neitz was running through Collingwood players left right and centre in the last quarter in 04. And in 05 he laid a bump on Lockyer, fracturing his own cheek in the process and inspiring the dees on to a win.

And Neitz is much fitter this year, at least he appears to be, than he has been in 04 and 05.

it's stupid just to focus on Neitz in our forwardline anyway, but feel free to, I hope your coaching staff does the exact same.

hopefully neita has got all his big milestone games out of the way and will have a big let down against us

whatever happens on monday at least the dees fans wont be holding up a "season over" banner.

haha I believe it was 'Finals Over' and is one of my favourite moments in football.

Not many other cheers squads would go to so much effort just to rub it in. I was proud of the nuff nuff's that one day.

Man I'm pumped, I wish this week would just hurry up!

finals / season over, it was brilliant & rubbed it in that much more.........payback time!

i think this is going to be a great contest and i cant wait for it to start, unfortunately we have 7 other games to get through first, oh well at least they save the best for last.
ill be disappointed if there isnt 80,000 if its a fine day. i wouldnt worry too much, the melbourne supporters will be there in numbers. and i wouldnt speak too quickly when making comments about teams with bad supporters. i dont remember melbourne supporters spitting on other teams when they walked off the field. who was that again?

in terms of the game it sounds like melbourne is really under-rated by the collingwood supporters. i hope their team does as well. neitz is back to good form and is fit. and in terms of collingwoods hero tarrent, if i remember correctly he was outclassed last year by nicholson. carrol is quite a bit better than ol nicko. white and fraser in the ruck should be a good contest. think davis and davey should match up on the wing just for a bit of excitement!

hard game to pick a winner. i hope its melbourne but i think it could go either way.

By the end of Mondays game Collingwood still won’t have beaten anyone.

Geez Mark, I thought you'd be more confident than that ;) .

Nah, I know what you meant but it's not like you to leave the door open !

We are NOT focussed on Neitz - that's the point - he usually does sweet FA against us!

It's your midfield that beats us usually - that's where we need to beat you guys!!

If Collingwood fans weren't just a little bit worried, they wouldn't bother responding in such a defensive manner.

Most Melbourne supporters know that you will go into the game as favourites. We also know that as a team, we have played below our best for the past 2 weeks. If we come out and play our best footy and get everyone firing, we are a massive chance.
We know it, and so do Collingwood fans... so just give it up and enjoy the build up.
