Might be mistaken but perhaps it's a question of trading Rodgers and going with Love or riding Rodgers until retirement.

Yep, talking post-Rodgers, Joop.

Definitely the thing to do is win it this year. If they do, I think they should try and stick with Rodgers and ride that wave to a third title with him. If they don't win this year, I don't reckon they'll ever win another one with him, so it might be best to get him out the door. If you do that, the question becomes - how good is the team itself minus Rodgers? If you think it's potentially competitive with the best, then you could chase a Russell Wilson. If not, get Love in and start again.

Probably true. The Packers have never put great teams around Favre and Rodgers, but there is some talent there at the moment.
Problem is with great QBs and I seen this with Brees and it will happen to mahomes too..
You suck up all the salary cap (which is your right if that’s your market value) the team struggles to fill all positions with decent players.

Brady was the only one who wanted rings more than money, took less than he could of to ensure plenty of good support cast...
And he’s not short of a dollar.

I think you are good enough to challenge again with the same team minus Rodgers. Poor division helps too.

Our problem is it's Rodgers AND Adams sucking it all up. Jones is going to want some more dough soon too.

I actually didn’t mind the play, Dak just f’ed it up by running to far and taking too much time off the clock.
Neither of those teams looked like they wanted to win.
Why? One shot into the endzone from 10 yards closer in than 2 shots? They gave up both shots into the endzone with that play and even if he did clock it they still gave up a possession that could've gone into the endzone.

Bizarre play calling given the state of the game. They were already within Dak's range, it's just odd. Unless you're flinging it around as time expires for some miracle I don't think there's any situation where you run the ball down the middle of the field, down 6 from the 40 with no timeouts left and 14 seconds on the clock lol. Surely you heave it twice into the endzone and hope someone grabs it, you need a TD to keep the game alive.

Yeh having a shot from closer in.
A run play to spike the ball can be done in 12 seconds, Dak just ran too far.
By the time he would’ve hiked the ball, waited for his receivers to get down the field and thrown it, time would’ve been up. He was only getting 1 shot, so closer = better.

It doesn't take 14 seconds to throw a ball into the endzone though so he would've had two attempts at it from 40 yards out?

Ok so you potentially get an incomplete pass and get 1 more shot at it, but also the 49ers are already playing Prevent so your chances are also higher of throwing an INT.
Like I said I didn’t mind the play, the execution was laughable. You have a better chance of throwing a TD from 30 than you do from 40.
If it works he looks like a genius, but they stuffed it up so he looks like an idiot.

Every team in the league would play prevent in that situation so I don't understand how it's a reason to run the ball given the situation they're in? It wouldn't really matter if they throw an INT going for the endzone - they need to win the game. Their chances are already slim to none but you've got to give yourself as many opportunities to get it into the endzone as you can.

10 extra yards to me is meaningless when the endzone will be crowded regardless. At least by not running it you give yourself two opportunities to win the game as opposed to one. I've been watching for 25 years and never seen anything like it lol it was bizarre, I don't reckon any team in the league is doing that at that stage of the game, it's all sideline or endzone throws on those kind of drives...the last thing I'd expect to see is a run down the middle with no timeouts haha but that's the Cowboys for ya

Yeh that’s your opinion that’s fine, all I said was I was fine with it. Didn’t think it was an amazing play but if it was executed properly I can see the logic behind it.

When you take into account the time remaining, the distance from the end zone and the way the 49ers had set up to ensure the cowboys couldn’t hit a target out wide and get out of bounds there really weren’t that many options.

To far to dump a pass over the top to Elliott who averaged 2.6 yards a carry, although with the middle wide open he’d have strolled into the red zone but from there swamped I’d imagine. So the only play left was a Hail Mary jump ball with the end zone stacked, historically a very low percentage play so low I don‘t think Brady has made one at any level ever.

So I think the plan was to run 8 or so to give dak some chance of a play that wasn’t a Hail Mary by the time he dropped back and threw. What was crazy is how far he ran and him not handing the ball straight to the official was so dumb from a top QB at that level. After the game nobody including jerry Jones was talking so I have no insight into the cowboys thinking, just looked like a panicked **** up. I might add Jones didn’t throw anyone under the bus but he didn’t get behind anyone
either, watch this space.

PS: I’d just like to add the noise must have been incredible because earlier jimmy g had a delay of game penalty called on him and you could clearly see him screaming for the snap.

Yeh was kinda my point. As Romo said after the game, that play is fine if you run 8-10 yards, but Dak ran 14 I think it was and took an extra couple of seconds off waiting for everyone to catch up to him.
Highly doubt they would’ve got the TD anyway, but % wise it’s better to go from the 30 than it is the 40.
In the end doesn’t matter, glad the 49ers won.
And I agree re; the noise. 3rd down at Orchard Park is the loudest thing I’ve ever experienced at a sports game. NFL crowds are insane. Hopefully get a Michigan game next season to experience college support.

Still think two shots into the endzone is better than one (in this case none). I've never seen that play ran in similar circumstances and I've been at this since 1998 lol. I guess the feedback from the majority of viewers/pundits/former players points to that. Dak can throw into the endzone from 40 out, no point getting the extra 10, the endzone will be packed regardless on a deep throw. You'd think you'd have a better chance at winning the game throwing 2 passes.

You’ve seen every game since 1998??? Impressive.

It was a very surprising play but a throw from thirty might have given him something other than the Hail Mary pass. Anyway you look at it they screwed it up which is really the issue, blew the play they ran and never gave themselves a chance to win it.

Can't say I didn't enjoy it though :moustache:

If that's what you took from it then sure 😂
Just thought it was a weird flex saying you’ve been watching since 1998 considering NFL game pass only became available in Australia what 5 years ago? And outside of the super bowl, games haven’t been played on free to air until recently.
