Bit of trivia for the North Heidelberg supporters. North started in the DVFL in 1958. Prior to that they were a junior club with teams in the PDJFA. Coming up to the 60th anniversary of their first win as a senior club.

Round 4 - May 3rd, 1958
North Heidelberg 10.18.78
South Morang 6.12.48

North won the premiership in 1962 in their 90th game in the league.
Love your work Historian hopefully history can repeat itself on the weekend.

C

Couldnt name 10. There’s a lot of great players, Hobbs, Donaldson, close, starsevich, Dennis, younan, grabowski, the Cloke and Harvey brothers this year. I’m sure there’s a lot more. Just saying I’d have Dennis over Cloke that’s all

No white or paynter from Macleod ?

Could be almost season defining this week for Bundy against Nth Heid. Should they lose could the team touted as premiers in the pre season be muttering the ‘R’ word amongst eachother?

I think you will find Bundoora will rocket home in the last 10-12 games of the year. Were very impressive saturday if you look at the side they had on the park. . And this week will not define at all where Bundoora will be in 3 months time. I agree they may be too far back before they get there cattle back to make a run at the flag, but not even close to relegation.

From what i can tell looking at there side
Marshall
Young
Dennis
Sturgess
Iacabucci
Simpson
Hughes
Furlong
Slater
Younan
Byrnes
Gilbert
Camusiano

Not sure if theres anymore but thats all i can think of. Teams struggle with 3-4 decent players out, thats a decent list to even try and stay competetive in games id say.

Hope they miss just one more week lol.
But seriously that is quite a lengthy injury list for this time of year.

Most of these blokes are seconds players. Did you see Heidelberg's list of outs?

I’ve now watched 2 games of football in this competition in the last 3 weeks, 4 different teams and I tell you what, for a competition claiming it as one of the premier in metro football, the umpiring is nothing short of a disgrace. I won’t declare what game I watched today but christ, the inconsistencies in umpiring are confusing for the players, crowd and everyone involved. It’s not a good spectacle for your comp, it’s unfortunate the contest I watched today was impacted by over governance.

Quick one for general viewers?
Is it not a 50m penalty to give the ball back on the full to the opposition if a free kick is paid to them?

It seems the interpratation of some rules and what they are paying from what I’ve seen in your Comp are miles apart in the implementation game day.

It’s a matter of time before it costs a side 4 points from my opinion.

Completely agree. If you make comparisons with EFL Div 1 & EDFL Premier league, NFL Div 1 umpiring is below standard. There are 3-4 umpires who perform well every week, but the rest are inconsistent and make ordinary calls at time. Dont get me wrong, EFL & EDFL have a few shockers too, but I dont understand why the D1 standard in NFL is so far behind the other two metro leagues. Is it the umpire coaching? Is it the lower expectation of them? I dont know the answer, but NFL need to accept it is an issue. I am not about whacking umpires - they are an absolute necessity for the game - but I would like to see the league pro-actively educating them for better standards and get them on par with the other metro leagues.

This is my new ladder forecast

Macleod - still have 8 home games remaining
Greensborough - impressive start to the season
West Preston - haven't seen them play yet
Bundoora - will now start getting players back
Heidelberg - getting results playing the kids
Hurstbridge - lots of upside
Montmorency - have more depth this year
Northcote Park - dropping home games not helping
North Heidelberg - better than what I expected, not getting bullied
Whittlesea - getting pumped and have had a cushy home draw

We all know Shane Harvey is a superstar in the league, well rumour has it he’s told the league #9 will not be worn in the Como game if he chooses not to play!!! Justin white from Macleod who also wears #9 will be running around with #99...
Can anyone confirm??
