My prediction

Banyule
Eltham
Thomo
Stars
Whittlesea
Creek

Daylight
St.marys
Epping
Watsonia

Top 4 will come down to the wire

Given what Fitzroy stars have Brought in this season,

I would Expect ladder as follows
1 banyule
2 Fitzroy stars
3 Eltham
4 thomastown

5 Whittlesea
6 diamond creek
7 Epping
8 st Mary’s
9 Watsonia

That last spot in the 4 will be hotly contested

My ladder predictions

Eltham
Diamond Creek
Banyule
Whittlesea

Thomastown
Fitzroy Stars
Epping
St Marys
Watsonia

Eltham will be the most consistent team again this year so will again finish on top
Diamond Creek will bounce back after a disappointing year last year
Banyule (who I see quite a bit of need to show more consistency but they do match up well against Eltham and hold no fear against them)
Whittlesea look as though they have recruited young so possibly in a rebuilding phase.
Thomastown and Fitzroy Stars are two teams that at their best are unbeatable but at their worst will lose to the bottom three.
Epping and St Mary’s will beat Watsonia.
Watsonia could be on the end of some big losses

I would like to see Banyule win it but just can’t see Eltham losing it again.

Not a good start for Epping losing praccy matches to 2 middle of the road div 3 outfits it’s only praccy matches but gotta think stmarys will be the best of that bottom group and should win 5-6 games

Going to throw out an early ladder prediction, always hard to gauge where all teams are at pre-practice matches, but will give it a crack. Absolute doozy trying to do this for Div 2, a heap of talented teams and only 4 finals spots on the line, 3-6 could be interchangeable here, but leaning towards something like this:

1. Eltham
2. Banyule
3. Whittlesea
4. Thomastown
---------------------------------
5. Diamond Creek
6. Fitzroy Stars
7. Epping
8. St.Marys
9. Watsonia

Should be a cracking year ahead, good luck to all involved.
Banyule
Whittlesea
Eltham
Diamond creek
——-
Thomastown
St Mary’s
Fitzroy
Epping
Watsonia

Hard to guess as there is a lot of quality sides. St Mary’s will do well.

Looking forward to a top 5 next year and have more teams a chance to play finals.

Reading division 3 thread Epping has been beaten by Mernda and Turtles in praccy matches. I know they only mean so much but surely they are in for a long year.

Who have Fitzroy brought in? They're coming from a long way back

Facebook.com

Don't use it but was able to have a look just then. I'd only looked at transfer page.
Of the 9 or so that i could see, one bloke hasn't played for 3 years, another for 4 and Andrew Lovett already requested a clearance. Hood is a jet but the other signings would want to be pretty good. They won 2 games last year, massive improvement required to win 10-12 to play finals.

Hood proctor and groth headline a few
Groth has been a competition across the ammos with old Ivanhoe

Expect a lot of imprOvement from them

Division2 will be a very strong competition this year. Fitzroy Stars look strong on paper so does Banyule,Thomastown,Eltham, Diamon Creek. It should be a good year with injuries playing a big part.

Think the top 6 will be super competitive
Going with

Eltham
Banyule
Diamond Creek
Whittlesea

Fitzroy
Thomastown
St Marys
Watsonia
Epping.

Banyule and eltham to play off

Eltham 19s2s/Reserves/Seniors v Sunshine @ Susan St Oval Eltham

Eltham 19s1s v Greensborough @ Greensborough

Surely Whittlesea coming down from Div 1 will be strong.
Eltham best team for most of 2018 will be strong again.
Banyule were strong last year and have recruited well.
Fitzroy also looks to have recruited well.
I am going with

Whittlesea
Eltham
Banyule
Diamond Creek

Thomastown
Fitzroy
Epping
StMarys
Watsonia

With Eltham and Banyule in grand final

Didn’t whittlesea lose 4 of their better players in Robinson, Fairchild, Horman and Briffa and only recruit a few kids from div 3 plus couple country blokes?

You may be right about that - i don’t know whittlesea well but just the fact they are coming down from Div 1 should still make them a strong team. Many people seem to be discounting them before a ball is bounced.
Its going to be a very tough div 2 this year with no easy games

Not good news for Diamo with Oli Parks shipped off by ambo on Saturday with what looked to be a nasty shoulder injury. Also Perry pulled up lame running into open goal with either a calf or hammy. Just did enough to beat south morang in the end

Eppings praccy matches are getting spoken about in the div3 forum, could someone from Epping give answers on the 3 sides they played.
Cheers

Haven’t Epping lost a few older heads from last season including tinsley and marcon....

Mernda, eltham turtles, Werribee centrals and Heidelberg west in that order. All pretty competitive games.

@ Topdeck
1 older head in Kiernan, marcon and Wilkins will also be missed. (tinsley hasn’t played for at least 2 seasons)
Have recruited well 8-10 players at least.

Opening round tips...

Whittlesea by 40 pts
Eltham by 6 pts
Rejuvenated (??) Stars by 10 pts on home deck
St Marys by 50 pts
