They were fantastic yesterday. Other teams definitely have the job ahead of them.

I think you’ll find it’s because they film from within the Diamond Creek coaches box

To say is not a free kick is wrong, 2 burra boys jump on the ball tackling eachother then the diamo guy comes on top a second later. Pretty clear they were trying to chew time off the clock.


As the 50 it is a stiff one. Seen them be paid before but not that late in a close game.

Hasn’t been that bad. People complain about the afl!

I’ve seen a few clips of 50s or cards handed out when they weren’t deserved.

In this instance he clearly tried to return the ball, was it worth costing a side a game and possibly their first d2 finals berth? No way….

A missed 50 is better than a non deserving one.

4 out of 5 missing on Banyule (just)

Winner of the round: Going with Eltham who have wrapped up the minor premiership with win over Banyule. Not many (including myself) had Eltham being 14-1 after 15 rounds. I thought they would make finals but even they would think they have exceeded expectations so far this season. Now in prime spot for a big tilt at a flag and promotion back into Division 1 for 2023

Loser of the round: St Marys would have been bitterly disappointed at 5pm last Saturday. By reading big footy it sounds a bit controversial at the end, but that’s footy at times. It leaves the door slightly ajar for Thomastown to continue their run to a finals spot.

Round 16 of Division 2 footy and it’s been a quiet week on big footy division 2

Watsonia (7th 6-9) vs Fitzroy Stars (10th 0-15) The saints will look to bounce back this week and keep their ever so slight finals chances alive. They lose Lucente who has been a reliable goal kicker for them in 2022 but look to Wheatley to return to his goal kicking form. For the Stars, it’s been a season to forget, but can they get that elusive first win this week. Riley Livingstone has been terrific all year and kicked 5 majors last week. Hotak Akram has also had a very consistent year for the stars. Too much class though at Watsonia. Saints by 63 points

Diamond Creek (3rd 11-4) vs Panton Hill (8th 5-10). Both winners last round and the creekers will look to continue that winning form to maintain the double chance. Last week it was Barnes and Gleeson that for them over the line. For Panton Hill, one more win and they would have their most successful season in division 2. Last week it was S Parks and Brook (with 4 majors) however they will need more from O Parks, Gorski and Pritchard to get the win here. Diamond Creek by 46 points.

Eltham (1st 14-1) vs St Marys (5th 8-7). The panthers had a great win last week over fellow premiership contender Banyule and this week welcome back Maley and Williamson. For the Burra, it was a heart breaking ( and possibly controversial) loss to Diamond Creek. Can they bounce back and cause an upset over the ladder leaders. Both Daisley and N Dean are significant outs. Eltham too good by 41 points

Epping (9th 2-13) vs Banyule (2nd 12-3). A better showing by Epping last week but they get a Banyule side on the rebound after last weeks loss to Eltham. Marcon back for Epping helps as does Martin and Dyson being out for Banyule however that won’t be enough. Banyule by 78 points

Thomastown (6th 6-8-1) vs Lower Plenty (3rd 10-4-1). A massive clash for both teams. Thomastown just need to keep winning to have any chance of playing finals whilst Lower Plenty are in the same boat if they want to get the double chance. Coulson back for Thomastown is huge as Lower will be without the Barden brothers. Thomastown have momentum and can see them getting another 4 points here. Thomastown by 11 points.

The only way they can make finals is by beating St Mary’s in last round at Whatmough Park. And that’s if St Mary’s lose to Lower next week.

Fair to say they won’t do it.
