Lid is not off at all, still think its a 4 or 5 team race in my opinion. Some quality teams out there and on any given day they will beat each other.

Depth will always be an issue and will make the difference come Cramer St.

Should be a cracking return rounds for the season which is what we want. Close, unpredictable games.

Lid is not off just using players that have always been here and getting results. Every player again bar 2 were 1 pointers. Only more points due to playing some juniors at other clubs. Not one recruit played today.

Fair enough, but Eltham depth is far better that anyone in reserves and 19s.

Only tipped 2 out 5 missing on Diamond Creek, Banyule and Thomastown

Winner of the round: Tough one with Eltham, Diamond Creek and St Marys all recording big wins. Last week I put the pressure on St Marys to get a scalp and in a must win game they prevailed over a fast finishing Thomastown. Full credit to the Burra who now put a 6 point gap between them and Thomastown. Honourable mentions to the great wins by Diamond Creek and Eltham.

Loser of the round: Every team can have a bad day but Banyule getting an 11 goal thumping was one out of the blue. An 8-4-52 to 0-3-3 third quarter would be the biggest margin in a quarter for Banyule for a long time. The coaching staff of Banyule will definitely be reviewing the game tape of that quarter. In saying all of that, still one of the premiership favourites

I know hes been at Eltham a few years and im being picky but how many jnr games did Anton Woods play at Eltham??? Hes a recruit.

The win was amazing but again I have to look at the culture Eltham is building.

Watching the lads grab a bin, some in socks, all in playing gear and ice on parts of their body, walk the ground and clean up....its amazing.

I hope other players that read this or hear about this concept they are doing try and enact at their club. I can tell you it means a lot to hard working people to see this act. Something I hope catches on. I am positive the league will be better with acts like this.
This happens at alot of clubs. This isn't something new Eltham is just doing

Round 9 and half way mark of the year.

Panton Hill 8th 2-6 vs Diamond Creek 2nd 6-2. The redbacks got an important away win last week over the stars while tge creekers just rolled along. Panton Hill will be looking for another big game from the Parks brothers to get the upset. Searl has been in terrific form for Diamond creek moving to 3rd in Coaches Award and leads the Diamond Creek backline group. Diamond Creek too good by 43 points

Banyule 3rd 6-2 vs Epping 9th 1-7. Banyule will look to bounce back this week after there worst defeat since 2018 (by margin). They get a young Epping team who have suffered some big losses and again another one looks on the cards tomorrow. Banyule by 159 points.

Watsonia (6th 4-4) vs Thomastown 7th 3-4-1. A massive game for both clubs,if Watsonia win and St Marys lose they will find themselves outside the top 5 only by percentage at half way mark if the year. The saints will continue to look to Wheatley who is leading the goal kicking to kick another bag. Thomastown, this is a must win to have any chance of playing finals, currently 6 points out of the top 5, win it could move them to within half a game, again if St Marys lose. Leonardis is back and that helps, last chance for Thomastown. Bears by 17 points.

Eltham 1st 7-1 vs Fitzroy Stars 10th 0-8. The panthers had a fantastic win last week smashing Banyule by 11 goals. The youth and enthusiasm of the young panthers makes them enjoyable to watch. For the Stars they had their chances last week against Panton Hill but couldn’t get over the line. Tomorrow doesn’t get any easier. Eltham by 104 points

Match of the day in division 2 are Lower Plenty 4th 5-2-1 vs St Marys 5-3. For the Lower bears a disappointing day at Diamond creek last week only kicking 5 goals for the match. For the Burra, they answered the challenge with a big away win over Thomastown. Can they get the win away tomorrow, the will need Costello, Dean and Cotter in fine form. An experienced bears vs youth of St Marys. Lower for me by 23 points

Enjoy the footy

panton vs creek- DC by 80
Should get a comfortable win here and keep gaining % to keep top 2 at the end of the day

Banyule vs Epping- Banyule easily. 150+

Eltham vs Fitzroy- should be a smacking. wouldn’t be surprised to see eltham put 200+ up. Hopefully stars can hang in there for a bit tho. Eltham 160+

Matches of the day in the last two. Burra travel to lower to take on the bears as Watsy host Thommo. Two massive games that can really shake up the second half of the season. Burra win, they’ll jump lower into 4th. Lower win They’d be a game and a half clear of St marys.

Watsonia win, they’ll equal 5th on % with the burra vs watsy match after the bye so much more interesting. Thommo win and there right back into the mix.

Massive day and hopefully the weather holds out so we can get a good solid quality of footy today.

No tom keys is a huge out for lower but i’m going to back them in a very very close game. Lower by 6 points. Could go either way.

Same with Watsonia Thomastown. Another game that could really go either way. Saints after getting a comfortable win as everyone does against epping compared to thommo heartbreaking lost last week after fighting back, i’m gonna back the saints. but again. in a close one that can go either way. Saints by 5

Hopefully we get some good footy today lads

PH v DC - Creekers here easy. 59 points

Banyule v Epping - this could be ugly. 150+

Panthers vs Fitzroy - Panther 150+

Watsonia vs Thomastown - Thomastown have a very disappointing season, but surely can win this 33 points

Burra vs Lower - Good win by the Burra last week but I think lower get the job done 33 points

What the hell has gone wrong with Thomastown this year?? At the start of the year I think that we all rated their list in the top 3 of Division 2

Would pay top dollar to be a fly on the wall in the rooms
Would be an interesting discussion as generally clubs like Thomo who promise but don’t deliver press the panic button.

Who calls the shots there.

The week after the bye games are flipping massive.
Diamo can finish thommos completely off for the season
Epping v Fitzroy will determine the relegation result.
Lower vs Eltham will be a great game of footy
And Watsonia vs Burra to take the outright 5th spot.

What a week it’ll be

Should be a cracker. Panther would like to beat lower but on the postage stamp it’s always hard.

Genuine question, does Epping even want to stay up? They are miles off it. Surely they’d be better regrouping in D3.
