James Elliot and Andrew white have put in clearances out of Lower.

Elliot played in their last finals and White 14 senior appearances.
10571z
I had put this up last week re Lower’s player exodus
Games played in 2022
White - 14
Elliott - 17
Reardon - 25
D Barden - 18
B Barden - 16
Duckworth - 6
Keys - 19
Paterson - 15
Sleep - 20
Add Blake now as well

It seems this is now bordering on the ridiculous at Lower Plenty.

Has any Club ever had such experience walk out in one year? With an aged ressies over past few years is there any light at the tunnel? Has the Research well really dried up that much? Did anyone at any stage attempt to start a junior program to try and get more throughput?

You could not be any closely located to a much more powerful and with that more attractive club to play/watch/sponsor will they survive as a bottom Div 2 Club/possible Div 3 Club?

Nothing wrong with rebuilding at all but is there any ins to make rebuilding workable?

Would not be surprised if their "rebuilding" starts with a new coach in 2024 who not only can coach but has a history of attracting quality players with him. Might not be a long term soloution but better than no soloution. Think Chopper will be well and truly on their radar.

They’ve had 11 clearances in from research so still getting a good amount of players you would say.

The Barden and Co well was always going to dry up eventually but they needed to recruit heavily this year which doesn’t have seemed to happen.

They’ll survive relegation you’d imagine.

This is what happens when you let a few egos in the playing group call the shots. Held the club to ransom then f**ked off and left the club out to dry.

I personally don't consider the LP ground to be a facility capable of supporting a Div one or aspiring Div one club
I think they should relocate down to Lower Eltham , get well away from Mont closer to their junior club.
Just a thought. .

Yep, I’m sure the gigantic lacrosse club would be stoked with that 😆😆😆

The grounds terrible, way too small. It’s shorter than Diamond Creek is wide.

Their players obviously don’t mind going to PH which is similar size

Panton Hill have put themselves right in the picture for this season. Were a fair way off it last season so im interested to see how they go in the early rounds this year
Missed finals by 3.5 wins. Surely they can make that up with their array of recruits.

30 point loss to Panther
17 point loss to Watsonia
18 point loss to St Mary’s
130 point loss to lower
21 point loss to TT

These are the sort of games they’d hope to turn around to make finals which’s seems feasible (besides Panther)

10571z Panton hill first 4 games are as below, 2 tough away games but 2 winnable home games to start the season off
R1 Eltham - away
R2 Watsonia - home
R3 Northcote Park - away
R4 Lower Plenty - home

There’s been some recent commentary around Panton Hill and the players they’ve recruited & how it’s going to work, week in week out, around their points. I’m more intrigued where the money is coming from to pay all of their players? Some of their recruits wouldn’t have come cheap? Do they have more money than Heidelberg, Bundoora, North Heid, Montmorency, etc? It all doesn’t make sense?

I hear the total toolbox makes a bit of money.

Priffic no sure what you are trying to say.
Good on Panton Hill who are a well run community club, i am pretty sure they have budgeted accordingly and it will be good to see them climb the division 2 ladder.
All of the clubs you meant at division 1 so salary cap is greater so you would expect them to have more money
Is Panton Hill have some additional great sponsors on board, good luck to them

Sponsorship, fundraisers? They haven’t attracted 10 ex afl players.

For me it comes down to two points:

1. Not many of Panton Hills recruits would be high priority for a successful Div1 team to offer them decent money

2. A lot of those players like to be the big fish in a smaller pond where the commitment and level of footy is not as great. It’s an easier option.

They also might be following the eltham turtles model of you don’t need to train to play seniors

Some of them could be following their mates/family, given there are clusters of players from the same club going there, such as the few from Lower, a couple from Boro (which has a long history of being a major Panton Hill recruitment zone). B Callaway from Bundy following Josh Callaway up the Hill too. Not for a second saying that there isn't significant $$$ involved but it might not be all down to that.
