Panther lads who usually have solid input on this forum a bit quiet on the topic..

Would love to hear what Ebert & Ernie have to say?

I’m currently bathing in bintangs in Bali, so big footy isn’t a priority. Just had a look. Good to see you’ve mentioned my name on a post for probably the 5th time. Feel free to leave your name one day.

Honestly, posting this is on social media is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen from a senior football club.

There is nothing wrong with what they have done. How they manage there contracts and salary cap is up to them as long as they come under the $88k. However feeling the need to address bigfooty chatter in a public forum and reveal information that should remain in-house is actually quite embarrassing.

I’m sure other clubs such as Monty, Bundoora, Thomastown, Heidelberg, Banyule, North Heidelberg and the Merndas of the world who have had trolls on bigfooty question how they manage to fit all there recruits into the salary cap haven’t felt the need to address bigfooty rumours publicly.

The timing is interesting, too. It all comes out after June 30.

Something doesn't work out here. Playing the last month of the home and away season as amateur players?

The comment about pay cuts "having a negative impact on a significant number of individuals" obviously shows that money is more important than the club to that "significant number of individuals".

Im still missing something here - what competitive advantage did the achieve doing this?

apparently the senior players, who wouldnt budge on their pay because they really need the money on a weekly basis, only needed the money until round 14, after that, they didnt need the money and more......

and as you say, they still met the salary cap, so why wouldnt you just do it over 18 rounds (presumably easier to cope week to week if its over 18 weeks)

none of it makes sense, stinks to high heaven

the whole post online becasue of rumours on bigfooty is even stranger.....trying to cover their trails bigtime and not working

Spot on!

For the life of me why would you respond to bigfooty rumours.

Stand by for the magical spreadsheet to be posted to their Facebook shortly

The more they speak the more bizarre it gets.

Would that include incentives for best players in the post-match in the social club?
The whole Eltham thing, what a crock of..., whether you spend the 88K in Rnd 1 or over the whole 18 rnds, the league couldn't give a sh@t, as long as you are reporting not over 88k for the season. So why would you seek their approval or afl vic. As someone else said, Swiss cheese. What it does tell you is that they have got enough cash to pay the players what they want for the remaining games. seems a bit amatuer.

PH vs DC - I dont think we see PH replicate their first win. DC 33

EPP vs WAT - Epping has a cracker against Eltham and i think they just might win this. Big in with Lirosi EPP - 13

TT vs NP - NP 12

SM vs ELT - sniff an upset here. The new Eltham “Amateur” Football have nearly been knocked off by Lower and Epping so wouldn’t be that surprising. SM 22

St M vs LWR - St M 55

Geez if Eltham can't win when getting paid, imagine the next few weeks 😜🤣

Round 24 tips

Panton Hill (8th) vs Diamond Creek (1st) The inconsistency of Panton Hill was in show last week when they dropped an important 4 points in going down to previously winless Lower Plenty. This game will come back to haunt them at seasons end if they fall just short of a maiden division 2 finals campaign. For the Creekers it was busy as usual with a resounding 10 goal win over 3rd placed Sth Morang. Panton Hill caused the upset if the season earlier this year in defeating the demons, can’t see it happening twice though. Diamond Creek by 29 points

Epping (10th) vs Watsonia (5th) Epping pushed Eltham all the way last week and would have been happy with their efforts however that would have been tempered with Lower Plenty beating Panton hill and as a result Epping now find themselves on the bottom and facing the possibility of division 3 footy in 2024. Watsonia with a great win over Thomastown and results going their way jumped up into 5th spot on percentage over Northcote Park. The saints won’t want to suffer any letdown though as Epping have been playing some reasonable footy of late. Watsonia will look to a big win though to try and increase their percentage which could be a huge factor in making or missing finals come seasons end. Watsonia by 37 points

Thomastown (7th) vs Northcote Park (6th) Both sides coming off disappointing losers last week by 29 and 8 points respectively. Both teams have been inconsistent and tipsters nightmare in 2023. Capeci and Leonardis are two massive outs for the bears and with these 2 outs will pick Northcote Park to win and probably eliminate Thomastown from the 2023 finals race. Northcote Park by 14 points

Sth Morang (4th)?vs Eltham (2nd) The lions are coming off a 10 goal loss to now premiership favourites Diamond Creek and have slipped to 4th while Eltham were pushed all the way by bottom placed Epping last week. A number of changes to both sides as coach Hall and Bongetti look for the right mix coming into finals. Lots of talk on bigfooty about Eltham, match payments and salary cap this week, will that be a distraction. Picking Eltham but making this game an upset alert, wouldn’t surprise me if the Lions pinch a win at home. Eltham by 11 points

St Marys (3rd) vs Lower Plenty (9th) The Burra jump to a season high 3rd place and will look to cement it this week against a Lower aplenty side that goes to Whatmough Park on a high after breaking through for their first win last week. Young gun Carelli with 9 coach’s votes lead the way with Read and Bianchin also on the votes. For Lower it was Meale, Sacco, Riley and evergreen Flynn getting an important 4 points to move them off the bottom of the ladder. St Marys though have too much to play for and can’t and won’t afford any slip up. St Marys by 32 points

Enjoy the footy

Very disappointing thomastown getting beaten by northcote park . Would be a few unhappy campers
It’s been a pretty average season in D2. If the flag comes outside of the top 2 it would be an absolute miracle.

TT, NP and PH have been seriously ordinary and no where near as good as we expected

D1 4 teams can win it
D2 2 teams can win it
D3 5 teams can win it

Looks like that 5th finals spot is going to come down to Watsonia V Northcote Park. They play eachother round 17 and will probably be the decider seeing they both vs DC and Eltham in the last round

When’s the last time a team came form D1 and missed finals?
