Also had a lot of 100+ losses.

Eltham, Diamo, Thomo will all improve their lists. South wont get near any of them.

I don’t disagree, I doubt they get too close to Panther nor Diamo. they’ll go ok though.

Thomastowns recruits don’t improve their list all that much…

Talk around DIV 1 club supporters has been that Diamo & Panton Hill have been waving around big $$ to recruits (Even more than DIV1 teams) and they have landed players so well done to them
Do clubs find sponsors with money or benefactors all of a sudden? No disrespect meant but what would motivate you to play for these DIV 2 sides other than money?

So everyone at your club Banyule was just there for money last season eh?

Do people not understand not every single player strives or cares about being a D1 footballer. Plenty are happy just enjoying it whatever level…

I understand perfectly.
It seemed an odd question from someone who follows a club that’s been in Div 2

I reckon Diamo will win the flag next year so probably money well spent - My point was the rumoured money for some of these players is huge!!
May be just rumours with some of them but a couple of boys that I have spoken with were offered double what they were on last year - Good on em just questioning how you can pay these rumoured amounts without great sponsors

I’m sure players would be grateful to be chased and offered good money to join a club with a good chance of winning a flag you’ll cherish forever more so with a good bunch of blokes or mates in any division.
Clearly every year a couple of clubs in lower grades step up their ambitions.

Yep agree with all that but only 1 club can win the flag so some are going to be left with big bills and no silerware - Hope they are not doing it on credit cards!!!

Am nearing the same. Keating, Marshall and Maynes offered $700-$800. That’s $40-45k just on those three alone - out of a cap that’s around $90k. Tobin wouldn’t have gone there cheap (lets conservatively say $10k), so that’s around $50k+on four players, then you have got the other 18 players to pay. That leaves an average of just $100 each for everyone else with some other very good players to pay such as Booth etc.

Another rort. Hope it works for them.

The funny thing is if they go up, those guys are not standout Div1 players so they will have to spend even more $$, and if B.Keating is getting $750 your pay scale is all out of whack when in Div1!

He played the majority of the year in the 2s absolutely couldn’t believe you’d pay $700 for that. Sounds like Mayo.

Are these players leaving Epping for old eltham just looking for a change and if so would there be a change of mind if for argument sake Epping did request to drop down

Cant drop down now. Fixtures being released in the next couple of weeks. Have missed the boat

Div 2 that year had 7 teams.

Moorcroft announced at South Morang. Should be a solid player.
Buckley announced at Panton Hill. He probably won't be getting a game. But a handy 2s player and good for depth.

Theres a difference between going into recession and admitting you arent up to D2 standard though.

They should have requested to drop down as soon as 2022 finished. If they dropped down and became a competitive team there's no way all these players would depart. Its too late now in my opinion.

Just to clarify Div 1 in EDFL is Div 2. Getting doesn’t mean they have signed them. Don’t believe the calibre of these so called “good” players are going to come near the level of talent that is going to walk out the door!
