I Was there watching that match. Lalor looked to have it in the last 10 mins. Two misses from close range cost them. They are going in right direction
Close but not close enough, still unable to get the 4 points. Morang fielded a very young team and aren't going to be powerhouses of previous years that will be putting teams away. Have struggled at the lakes so far and Lalor should have won. The conditions at Morang have created close games every match so far.

Watched Kilmore against Laurimar yesterday they look to really be struggling to find a consistent avenue to goal without Swindells. Kinnear is a great player but he is a better defender than Forward. When is swindells due back ?

Swindells should be back in the next week or two hopefully. He was third highest goal kicker in div 3 last season and was named on the half forward line in the team of the year, so will be a welcome inclusion when he returns. Kinnear was named centre half back in the div 3 team of the year last year, so is obviously a pretty handy backman, but kicked six against the Turtles a couple of weeks back. Laurimar were too good on the weekend and although it was a 36 point margin, they only had one more scoring shot than Kilmore. They kicked gun barrel straight, 14 goals 4 points, with Josh Williamson being the match winner kicking 6.

Turtles have played Morang, Kilmore, Laurimar, PH and West so far and would be interesting to know their thoughts on all teams that they have played who will be thereabouts near the end of the year. Very tough start to life in the NFNL with that fixture

Could say the same for Lalor mate. Fixtures are fixtures.

Of those Lalor have had Laurimar, Panton Hill, West Heidelberg, South Morang also...

Yes agreed tough start for Lalor too but they have built expectation from internal sound that they would challenge these teams which Eltham were more the realist type.

Again, not that this should be given any energy BUT, I’m pretty sure the Turtles President in an interview with Sam Zito was sheepish about the Turtles pushing into the 4th position (which is exactly what a president should do) and again - I think you’ve confused marketing with confidence.

Tbh im not surprised most were aiming for finals. Whoever finishes 4th won’t be that far ahead of whoever finishes 2nd last in my opinion.

South Morang could be fourth who drew with Turtles who are second last.
Yes.... To be honest, i've only seen two games live this year - Its how we designed the season to look as we integrated the social football competition during away games at Sydney Crescent but the way i see it so far;

- Panton Hill

- HWFC (Depth puts them in a strong position)
- Laurimar

The next 6 rounds will help determine who fights for the 4th spot with Kilmore having a couple of games up their sleeve and SMFC getting some breaks early that may help them in the back half of the year (Eltham and Lalor could have gotten away from them but the record shows 6 points - That's football)

There has been lots improvement this season which is great for the competition - Some clubs still holding their own during a mini re-build like Mernda and Morang.

Injuries across the next 12 games could play a big part towards finals success.

- Unfortunately Reservoir lagging behind with some work ahead of them

Mernda look like slow starters so i hear, giving PH head start of 7 goals or so, & having 4 und 19's in the frt 6 is going to make it hard to kick a score when your behind... Is it a Re-build for them atm?

LOL don't under estimate the worth of under 19s in a senior side. Getting a year of footy under their belt will only help going forward. They more than hold their own against the opposition sides. Having points strangle a club on a weekly bases hurts but that happens when people leave for coin and the hope of a premiership. Mernda are still in the same boat as last year but without the older blokes who left. The only blokes who left a hole are the boys who went to Bundoora. But fingers crossed they return one day and continue the path with the future of the club. Yes finals might be out of the question but it's about the build up of what will be in years to come.

So which players left for more money ?
Playing kids is fine but if their not up to it your wasting your time, Take a look at Epping for example.
From what I hear Mernda will have a new coach next year, Lets hope hope they can recruit some quality players as well.

That talent that has left Mernda didn't help them last year or the years before maybe they were holding the club back!! Only time will tell. They had a good bunch of kids coming through the 19s last year who I seen play against a strong Heidelberg team which will help at the selection table. Footy is only around the corner. Good luck to all the sides and fingers crossed no serious injuries and a even competition.

I Guess the ones who left wern't the only ones holding the club back as time is showing ?

Considering they have kicked the highest score agonist Paton hill this year ..!!

Obviously it’s not the forward line so I’m not sure about your argument, maybe some more 19’s need to be in the back 6 and then that might level things out..!!

Just saying

Was a good game to watch, a couple lead changes in the last quarter. Few missed opportunities and no bench probably the difference in the end but positive signs for the Bloods looking forward. Were you there to watch your son RickyTang?

I live 2min walk from the ground mate. It was a good match. Lalor need to practise goal kicking.

Morang had no bench as well and was a really good contest.

Not an argument, just saying give side like PH a 7 goal head start is always hard to run down & maybe 4 und 19' up frt might not of been enough to peg it back. im sure they're blooding them for the future. Sounds like you want more kids in 1's,

Yeah I guess I do,
If you are going to rebuild with young talented players then try to play them altogether. They all grew up playing with and against each other , they come from very successful div1 junior sides, all of them have been either NFL reps, in Knights squads. Junior association BF top 10 and club BF winners at some stage , all figured in top 5 of league goal kicking in there last 4 years of junior div 1 footy, couple of them headed the the table!

They know no other way than to be successful and to build something, they play to play finals , there skilful and bring a unique touch to the game,

Anyone of them would be in a starting 18 for any div 3 senior club including Panton Hill, the fact Mernda have all this talent at there disposal is one hell of a bonus..

They are all mates and they just all want to get on the park together!!

Waste of time being half pregnant , do the rebuild and let these boys play, cause they sure can play!

Mernda are the big winners here..!!

And given time it will show..!!!

If any div 1 or 2 senior players could see what Mernda have and want to help some serious talent grow, they should look to heading down that way and helping these boys develop, cause they will without a shadow of a doubt eventually give them a flag to retire on!!

Just my opinion!!

Man O Man... it's a journey, talent takes time to come thru & shine at senior level, there's always the odd one who can go straight thru to seniors and shine, you should be on the AFL talent identification unit. You something else.
So you're saying that anyone not 19 or younger at Mernda are no good??? Do the senior players now who you are? And who's dad you are?

Now you are being mischievous, it isn’t what I said at all,

Some of the older players at Mernda aren’t key position players, the mids brought into the group this year are very good..

So no I’m not saying the senior group are no good, maybe Father Time has caught up with a couple..!

And yes there is still plenty of talent in the 19’s to come into senior footy and there are a couple coming back from knee revision from last year that won’t play this year that will also strengthen the youth group next year..!!

And just for the record “LUKE IM NO ONES FATHER”
