You are one of the very few sensible posters on here - I dont see a lot of DIV 3 what is your view on the results today and finals?
Results as expected. Mernda should be pleased, not winning but pushing imo one of the best sides in it brings hope for the future.

Huge games next week with the top 4 playing off.

South’s foot skil and speed imo they’ll destroy Laurimar.

Turtles need a top 4 scalp. Turtles win here they’ll beat West and be finals bound.

Be nice to see the turtles play finals?

That would be a massive achievement for the Turtles. They have set themselves up nicely to have a tilt at finals.
Yep would be great for Old Eltham and or West.

They’ve got a tough finish but with home games against West, Kilmore, Laurimar and another against Reservior they may just sneak in. West have a much easier draw on the run home so certainly wouldn’t write them off in any way.

Horrible incident and can’t imagine what the families must be going through. The news reported it wrong - the kid who played for South Morang is actually the one who survived crash.

Cheers for clarifying, even though it is horrible their was a death that could easily been avoided.

With the competition for the 2nd and 4th spot heating up thought it would be worth looking into Turtles and Wests recent form and also see who Laurimar and Kilmore have on the run home with both being on equal points at the moment.
Laurimar run home:
Morang, Kilmore, Mernda, Turtles, Lalor, Morang

Kilmore run home:
Turtles,Laurimar, Morang, Lalor, Mernda, Turtles

If Kilmore knock off Laurimar in 2 weeks they could possibly end up 2 games clear second and be in the box seat to stay there. If Kilmore finish second I think they have a really good chance at knocking off Morang in the first final.

Interesting to see Turtles and West have had the polar opposite last 6 games in terms of the level of completion they have played which is reversed for the back end of the season.

Turtles last 6:
Beat Mernda by 43pts
Beat Reservoir by 83pts
Lose to Kilmore by 9pts
Post lockdown:
Beat Mernda by 20pts
Beat Reservoir by 88pts
Beat Lalor by 89pts

Upcoming: Kilmore, West, RLaurimar, Morang, Kilmore

In the leader article today the Turtles coach claimed his back 7 were the best in the comp right now so we will see against the bigger teams if this stacks up.

West last 6:
Beat Laurimar by 14pts
Beat Lalor by 7pts
Lose to Morang by 13pts
Post lockdown:
Lose to Laurimar by 41pts
Lose to Kilmore by 50pts
Lose to Morang by 68pts

Upcoming: Lalor, Turtles, Lalor, Morang, Reservoir, Mernda

Turtles will no doubt need to beat more than West and Reservoir on the run home to have a chance and West will need to make sure they don’t drop games they shouldn’t. It’ll be very interesting to see over the next month how things play out.

West’s post lock down form has been horrendous! Still a very good chance to make finals but they’ll be making up numbers at this stage.

On the other hand if the Turtles
make they’ll need to beat 2 of the top 3 to get there so will be right in it if they do (unless west lose basically every game which is very unlikely)

How much longer can Reservoir survive getting spanked each week? Hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel as their results are worse this year than 2019.
A whole new committee needs to take over or the club will fold as they are 1 of the main reason why so many players have left, don't worry the Supers club is waiting and ready to take over the ground and they have about 5 sides I think.

Theres a few clubs in similar positions across all the divisions
Who are in similar positions? Fitzroy? NP? Then can at least drop a division and be competitive again.

Are the coaches recruits going to stick around next year getting spanked?

I know they are trying their best and applaud them showing up each week but sooner or later they just won’t be able too find players you’d think.

Not sure Northcote would be overly competitive with the top 4 in Div 2 at the moment.

Fitzroy a big concern yes

Silly comment. They would win Div 2 pretty easily
Yes they havent women a game yet, but have been in nearly every one. Still have quality there

No they wouldnt.

Last three teams relegated from division 1:

2019 - Lower - 2 wins
2018 - Whittlesea - 2 wins
2017 - Eltham - 5 wins

Are Northcote going to have a better record than any of them?

Yep can’t agree they’d win it but I suspect they’ll bounce back in d2 next year.

Regardless what does the future of the Mustangs look like, how long can you go without results.

They changed to a Sporting Club a few years ago incorporating Reservoir Football Club, Cameron Cricket Club and Reservoir Darts Club.
Footy and cricket club are on their knees and cant see much coming in from darts club.

The bloods will be in a similar position once cash runs out left from previous administration.
