hope it's not a similar sitution to EK in our comp.
how often does the all chips in not work and leaves clubs in diabolical situations long term afterwards.
not to mention the loyal volunteers and reserves players who pay the fees, buy the murch whilst mercanaries get thee's for free on top of (in some instances) ludicrous amounts of club or community mustered up money.
This has been interesting for us to learn about coming from the ammos where open payment was not anything that really came up within the club. As we grow into a semi-professional club, this will be something us oldtimers are watching with interest.

had this very chat with a mate who now lives and follows the footy a little bit in wallan.
competitive every year but hand over fist a lot of wallan business and community money spent for nothing other than a covid cup that he says theyve claimed as a premiership.
Didn't they just recruit Cam Cloke for 2025? Runners up last year so in the mix for this year.

So, is the simple answer we need to tier points with divisions.

Div1 - 40
Div2 - 45
Div3 - 50

If you win and go up obviously you abide by the points for that division.

Allows the smaller, non-juniors clubs to start to create a culture to keep people and reduce points over time.

Food for thought.

I think the points at 46 in itself is fine.

It’s the rankings of players which needs far more detail for mine.

Not many clubs in the NFNL are playing at max points or even close to each week.

Interesting thoughts DC.

Maybe it would have to be implemented across ALL competitions or the NFNL might lose top end talent to other comps that had more points?

What if you also scraped the salary cap or increased it significantly and had greater governance set up around the allocation of points?

The salary cap can't be policed so get rid of it.
All the cap does is disadvantage those few clubs that try to observe it.

Still need the salary cap, even though clubs spend outside of it, they'll be nervous to be spending 150K when cap is 75, still in fear they could get caught. where as they spend 90 -100 with a level of confidence they'll be safe with a 75 cap, but an open salary will allow the haves to go all out & the have nots get left in their wake.

Agree with this.
