So you didn’t read the above.

Reservoir aren’t the only side allocated extra points.

It’s also not rorting the system. It’s being allocated more points due to terrible recent history.

Using extra points to recruit another player or two is exactly why they are allocated.

It’s only now an issue because of the belief that they might rapidly improve.

It’s ok, you’ll be ok, the club you support will be ok, and hopefully reservoir can become competitive. Same goes for lalor .. who are also allocated extra points.

I have absolutely nothing against West Heidelberg, however if your example is going to be along the lines of .. they aren’t going well and haven’t gone well in years and it looks like they will continue to not go well and good on them for just sucking it up and doing that.
It’s probably not a sustainable example.

Ressa and Lalor were at the point of nearly not being in the comp.

It’s better for everyone if they are competitive.
Ease up with the “trying to rort the system’

Really good people there, rolling up their sleeves and trying to make the place fun and exciting and a good footy club to be at.

I think a bit on here has probably gone a little far.
A lot of rubbish being put on here . End of the day everyone is trying to tell you that the way they have gone about recruiting these blokes isn't good for the future if the club . Remember 2015 ? That ended well for the club apart from being premiers

I'm lead to believe that West did apply for points the last two years after losing numerous one point players and had recruits ready to go, but needed the extra points, but were knocked back both years meaning they missed out on recruits. They apparently were told by the league that they need to stop recruiting div one reserve players and focus on div 2 reserves players. If this is true, the league needs to have a good hard look at themselves.

Do not know anything about NFNL response and would be surprised if that was the information given, but can confirm they have asked for extra points last year and were declined.

It gets very difficult to have 2 or 3 clubs on extra points and 11 team competition (fixture variations) to make the competition equitable as a starting point. As such, I can see why clubs might be asking these questions as ALL clubs are doing what they can to be competitive.

I hope that the NFNL has reached out to committees of clubs to discuss and explain thinking so they can then relay that to supporters of the competition or conversations like this will continue.

Huge conversation here with some passionate issues, we all need footy back, I am sure.

Whilst I don't know the ins and outs of getting extra points, I think the allocation of such needs to be more than just "here they are go have a great 2025".

The only reason to entertain the idea of gifting a club above others is if they (Resa) presented a decent business plan showing how this year they need it for survival, but they have plans for juniors and the future to ensure more local players (and a plan not just a statement they will try a decent robust plan).

If not, this is clearly just annoying all other clubs with no future benefit.

No one should be complaining it’s boring having teams who don’t bring a challange

You must know something we don't as I heard of a similar rejection.

In any case, seems the core issue is the management from the league (again), poor communication to other clubs around the additional points allocation to club who yes has recently battled, but had both dollars and high profile recruits follow the new regime through the door.

Surely you understand the frustration from clubs both new and old in Div3.

Well that's correct. If they finish above someone then why do they require a concession?

Its been an interesting debate...

I think clubs have duty to try and win, but at what cost? I would have though clubs need to have 1 eye on sustainability while trying to win.

So in Ressa case, they have been down for many years, so over that time, have they increased the volume of juniors (u15, u17 and even u19)? The was the key time to rebuild the club up.

Without investing in that area you have to recruit new players every year, and that costs $$. With the cost of living, businesses don't have endless streams of cash to dump into clubs, so when that runs out, what happens, you can't recruit top end talent. So the juniors are an important part to player volume, especially with the points system.

Parkside took a step to the VAFA many years ago, how has that work for them? They still exist, what are their numbers like?
