The scores don't represent the quality of the game. Both sides played a good standard of footy.
No they didn’t. Had 12 out injured and Covid unfortunately.
Don’t really care for the quality of the game.
Mernda lost by 50 points, they are terrible and will only beat Reservoir and Lalor.
But as long as it’s a good quality game the coach will be ok lol

Looks to be a bit of an arm wrestle. Top 5 is a mile ahead of the bottom 3. Mernda best to just keep playing kids and resetting for 2023.

So Lalor 2s don’t get up yesterday.. South don’t even get a win. And now the ladder is cooked and on win percentage, not to mention south miss out on percentage
We are 3 games in and they’ve pulled out halfway of 1, played another and forfeited the third. Might be time to make a tough decision and cancel their ressies.

Interesting all of their reserves somehow caught covid the week the were playing Morang but fielded a team against Reservoir. With their senior result on the weekend I don’t think they will even field a senior team for too much longer…
A positive is the top 5 teams look to be a coin toss at the moment for results which will be hard to predict and make the top 4 race at least interesting.
Kilmore beat turtles by 10 points
Laurimar beat kilmore by 2 points
Turtles beat west by 1 point
Morang beat west by 22 points
Next week laurimar play turtles and west play kilmore followed by laurimar v West and morang v kilmore the week after. Laurimar play Morang the week after that which will round out a big month of the top 5 battling against eachother.
Lalor had a mix of seniors and reserves out with COVID totalling 6 and another 10 out injured. Also copped a few serious injuries this week as well. Will get tough to field a senior team once the cold months set in. Big reunion this week so hopefully they can stick it up Mernda who seem to be struggling.
South 2’s will get the four points for a forfeit, but you’re right, they miss out on valuable percentage.

Luckily the reservoir win shouldn’t impact the ladder much and the half win West had against them isn’t too big either. They need to be cancelled this week and it would limit how disruptive the ladder could potentially become. Mernda will beat them by 100+ in each game still.
Nup, the protocol for a Covid forfeit (I’m assuming that was Lalor’s reasoning) is no points awarded to either side and your ladder position goes to win percentage.
An absolute farce for South.
Not sure what kind of “forfeit” they declared but I assume they said Covid?

They should just do a joint ressies side. Would he far easier and take a boat load of stress off both clubs.
Yea and Broadford in the outer east just merged seniors mid year due to numbers, so very possible.

From my perspective any form of forfeit Covid or not should be considered a 200-0 win for the opposing team.
That might just give the additional kick for the club to field a side. It already appears too easy for struggling clubs to say let’s forfeit to the detriment of the opposition who may lose gate takings, percentage or even just a run around which helps with well being.
At twos level AFL Vic need to get creative on how to keep games going ie. 16 a side when one club is facing a shortage. I know it might even seem like jnr stuff but if stronger clubs need to lend Lalor 2-4 fringe players for the game to get a match up and running, it will actually benefit themselves over the course of the season rather than missing out on a game all together.

Do they honestly wonder why out of 30 clubs in the NFNL they sit 2nd last?
Huge junior club, 19s, amazing facilities, growing area and they are 2nd last
Good people just don’t want to be part of clubs where this garbage is accepted. Fact.
The worst incidents in the entire league have come from 1 club repeatedly over the past few seasons
League need heavy action—
$5000 club bond, will be lost for any out of play incident.
This little coward should be banned for 15 weeks
Club should be charged and down the field vision required at all games.
Sooner or later these incidents end up in all in brawls and news headlines. It ruins the reputation for the entire league and makes it harder for EVERY OTHER CLUB.
Looking foward to hearing about how this guy is “the best bloke and out of character”
