Sidebottom has gone past Sidebottom. Ever since he left his team mates in the bubble he’s never come back. Didn’t really like that at all.

Nick Daicos undoubtedly a talent, but it’s a preseason game. Let’s consider that before getting too excited and setting the kid up to fail.

We have very little ability to impact his career. He’ll be as good as he wants to be, no matter how much or little we say.

Nah. Norf was never going to give up the first pick 1 they ever had.

Even IF we did not made the Trade in 2020 Draft so we had Pick 2 so they Given us 2 top 3 Picks?

Not all players are able to withstand the pressure. We can help that by not raising expectations, he will hit his heights even if we don’t pump him up.
Doubt it will make any difference either way - he has grown up in the shadow of an icon of the game - the best player (with a full career) I have seen at our club in over 50 years of barracking.

If he can carry that sort of load through junior representative football and excel as much as he has he won't balk at this.

Did anyone bid on Campbell to stop Sydney getting 2 top 4 picks in 2020?

Last time I checked they were both selected at pick 4, so your argument kind of falls down a bit there.

Nick Daicos was Rated by lot of Experts as the Best Prospect in the Draft and I don't Remember people saying the same thing as Cambell

‘Experts’ ratings mean nothing. It’s the recruiters opinions that count.

I don't think it would have made any difference.

If we had have had pick 2, we still would have lined up enough points for Daicos, outside of pick 2. If North had have made a bid, we would have traded it into the 2022 draft. Some other team gets pick 2, we get a likely early future first. Nothing changes for North. No advantage for them to bid - it simply changes which other club uses our pick 2, and we get an early pick in 2022, instead of 2021.

To make sure we pay Maximum for Nick

That’s my hope, but the situation is very unique at Collingwood. The passion is greater, the stakes higher and as result the pressure through the roof. Have a look at the difference between Stephensons ban the recent incident.

Brayden Shaw was a similar stand out performer at junior level but never came to grips with senior football. I can’t help but think the added pressure at a time when the club was struggling contributed to his demise.

The maximum we could pay was matching pick 1 - they chose not to do that.

If we had pick 2, we wouldn't have used it to match, we would have traded into 2022 if north bid on Daicos, or if they didn't, we would have drafted someone with it. Pick 2 wouldn't have disappeared - it would have been used by us or some club other than north.

Then there are random injuries like the one that killed Swannies career a couple of years early.

No sure bets in life.

I reckon one real positive to help Nick cope with the pressure of senior level is that he has brother who has done it all before him as a "son of the Macedonian Marvel".

Nick did exceptionally well to cope with all the media hype during the draft period. So far, so good.

I wish him all the good luck in the world to achieve one thing - reach his fullest potential.

It will be one of the most memorable moments for me as Magpie supporter - seeing the two Daicos sons playing together for the very first time at senior level. Imagine how Peter and Colleen will feel 😃
