Pav. Nearly had 7 consecutive AA positions and in a very average team no less. 02, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08 and was good in 09, 10, 11 or enough at least to win a B&F after changing to a different role whilst struggling with various injuries. Unbelievably consistent and a better player over the journey than Reiwoldt.

Riewoldt is ridiculously underrated, imo he's changed how a CHF plays. In 2009 and 2004 he was arguably a top 5 if not top 2 player in the comp and his finals record is astonishing. People all focus on his limited impact in the grand finals while he was carrying injury but seem to forget that he brought us to those grand finals off his own boot.

In what possible way, if anything his style of play is outdated. Insane suggestion.

The CHF that runs all day and plays over the entire ground is far from outdated. It certainly works for Buddy.
Hardly new either and he is nothing like Buddy.

Reiwoldt plays his brand of footy very well but its basically lead, lead, lead, chest mark, safe kick or set shot.

Virtually no ground level ability, terrible turning circle and agility and applies next to no defensive pressure. He is a dinosaur, still effective-ish (since he was great at it) but its an outdated brand, where the young potential gun KPF's coming through now seem to be not only more athletic but work on having a much more well rounded game (Cameron, Darling etc.).

How much have you actually seen Riewoldt play? He pressures the ball carrier relentlessly, he's strong at ground level (has kicked more than his fair share of goals from pick up snaps) and is rarely caught with the ball in hand when he pushes up the ground

Plenty and for years, once the ball carrier is out of his immediate vicinity he is almost a non presence. Guys like Franklin and Kennedy will hunt an opponent up the ground, this is what the modern game requires.

He is not strong at ground level, kicking the odd snap does not contradict my position. In fact he illustrated my point perfectly with that mistimed kick in the Grand Final. Didn't try to dive at the ball then get up and kick because he knew he couldn't, so went the soccer and completely faffed it. Agility and ground level ability, not his strengths.

Great at what he does well but your bias is shining through.

I may be biased but on topic I think Riewoldt's best is better than Pav's
You can say it's my biased opinion but there you go

Which was this? one season with an unstoppable midfield behind him in 2009? Not surprising the Saints form slips, so does his.

Pav performs no matter where his team is on the ladder.
