Just saw on fb the list of players with 2 years and those with 1 year contracts - would be greatly appreciated if someone could post it here.

Those in the 1 year bracket makes for some interesting discussion.

Committed for two seasons:

3 Bella Eddey
5 Tess Craven
7 Ash Riddell
9 Emma Kearney
20 Jasmine Ferguson
23 Mia King
25 Jasmine Garner
26 Kim Rennie
31 Danielle Hardiman
36 Brooke Brown
Vikki Wall
Erika O’Shea

Committed for one season:

1 Sophie Abbatangelo
6 Alice O'Loughlin
12 Nicole Bresnehan
15 Amy Smith
16 Tahlia Randall
17 Sarah Wright
19 Ella Maurer
22 Ellie Gavalas
24 Perri King
35 Jenna Bruton
43 Grace Campbell

Look a little light for forwards. Unless Garner becomes a permanent CHF. And even then we don't really have any small forwards other than Campbell.:(
Don't we also have 8 draft picks. Surely someone good gets taken.

Interview with Scott Gowans where he says the Swans startup is the opposite of North’s. He says for our first season they went out and recruited a team to win a flag straight away, and the bottom end was a fair way behind and didn’t get much of a run. This time he is aiming for a more even spread and a group that will develop together - does admit that they went for a few big names but didn’t get any of them, so it is kind of making a virtue of necessity.

Am i wrong in thinking it would be far harder to build a team over time with seemingly how much easier it is for players to move around in the womens league?

It's not easier for players to move around in the women's league. It's much harder given they have jobs and study to prioritise, which severely limits their options. They also don't have unrestricted free agency like in the men's league.

If it's seemingly easier, it's only because expansion provided players with rare/exceptional opportunities to switch clubs. But that phase has passed. And as we've seen in 5 of the 6 cases so far, soon to be 9 out of 10, it still wasn't easy enough to allow the new clubs to build high-quality lists.

When addressing Sydney's inaugural squad of 30 players for the first time, a brutally honest Scott Gowans would say: "In two years from now, 20 of you won't be here." The notion that players 21 to 30 on the list each year won't get left behind (i.e. quickly delisted/traded out) is ridiculous, and it's only being entertained because of the ridiculously tough challenge that awaits the Swans' AFLW team.

At training tonight - Lulu Beatty told me she had an interview today and saw the facilities.

She is a great athlete, reads the play really well, I like playing with her

There’s apparently a chance according to Sarah black the best tassie player Claire Ransom nominates gc due to Cam Joyce being her allies coach lol

Also another tassie player madi brazendale may nom Sydney

We need to be getting these tassie players to only nom us, we have 8 picks to fill these girls we could take late if they nom us only, commit to them and lock them in

There are already 25 on the list, so we won't be using all 7 of the picks we currently have (not sure where you pulled 8 from).

Considering Craven and Perri King combined for 1 game in their 1st season, it's probably not that easy to convince the next batch of players that they wouldn't just be essentially nominating for our reserves team.
