Have an awesome evening everyone…….and know this week might be horrid at work…but smile coz England are out of the World Cup….and that’s amazing 🤩

Love these.

Our Pommy import this year is from Yorkshire like Jonny. Fair to say he hasn't received the ribbing very well.🤣

About this time last year I went to the India/Zimbabwe T20 at the MCG - otherwise forgettable game but for the 90k atmosphere. Convinced me that going to an India match in India had to be on the bucket list.

Would love India/Pakistan to play a Test at the G one day too.

I was at Brett Lee's debut against India. We got there early and thought we'd sit behind the Indian fans. Within half an hour we were completely surrounded by them. Was a great day, they're are just nuts. Lee took 5 too.

On Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test in 2021 (it was over by lunch on Day 3), Jonny fielded right in front of us in the deep right near where the AFL umpires walk out. It's our usual spot and fair to say whoever fields down there cops it big time. Gotta say, Jonny handled it better than most and won over the crowd.

Deep down, I reckon he might be a decent bloke. But he's handled his run-out at Lord's like a total penis and in the unlikely event he's back in 2025, he'd have permanently lost whatever goodwill he won that day.

Tell you what, it would have been funny to see the data on his heart rate, temperature and blood oxygen levels as he walked back to the pavilion yesterday for a golden.

They should put that data up on the screen.

Aggers was able to find a little positive in the fielding of the team that represents England, however, I contend that the outfield was heavily watered before the match started and balls that were carrying to within a meter of the boundary were plugging and stopping almost dead. Sure, a lot of balls were swept up just inside the rope, but on any other day, or at any other ground (apart from the WACA in 1980 or thereabouts) these balls would have bulleted over the rope on the first bounce. I'm guessing about 20 runs were saved simply from the ball stopping dead on the bounce, and that probably caused two wickets to fall due to players having to adjust to deal with the damp outfield during the first inning.

No aregument with Aggers though. He summed it up well.
Agree with the feild….not sure think it was Head took out a massive divet from the ground with his knee….his knee….the outfields are horrendous…..but that’s India…..and yes l believe he wrapped it up nicely.

A couple of the Knights of the British Empire lifted some huge divots with knees and elbows during their time in the field. The commentators did mention that the outfield was very soft from moisture. Who knows, it might have rained in the days or hours before the match. The Pak/NZ game was decided on the DL method due to rain delays.

I used to work in the IT industry and as you can imagine, there are more than a few Indians amongst the workforces of most large corporates - here as well as offshore. One place I worked at would have had an IT department represetation of about 300 or 400 people. The vast majority were Indian (75% plus) and into the bargain, we had a few hundred more offshore in India. During the 2015 world cup, we scheduled any work that could be moved to alternate days whenever India were playing. When India played in Melbourne our building (which was typically described as being as busy as a fishmarket) was lke a ghost town.

The day before India played would be a mixture of excited anticipation of a win and nervous panic in case the unthinkable might happen.

I got along well with most of the Indian crew but on match days they were either so delerious with the joy of winning or so seriously down at the prospect of losing that it wasn't really possible to get anybody to do any meaningful work. When India won it was party time and impossible to get any work done. When they lost it was just depressing and impossible to get any work done.

Apart from that the general atmosphere of the place was good. I had a conference room on permanent booking for about 3 years (we were moved a couple of times to different floors but I managed to keep a decent sized room with each move). We had around 20 or sometimes more people crammed in fixing defective software prior to release to the commercial production environment and in the entire time I was there I don't think there were any altercations - we all got along well.

Funny thing... About a week after Phil Hughes was struck, a new guy came out from India. I introduced myself to him. His opening line to me was to ask which brand of helmets I thought might have offered Phil Hughes more protection compared to the one he was wearing when struck? The guy told me how upset he and his family were at the loss of Phil Hughes, and he seemed to be completely genuine in his grief.

There were often pizza afternoons on Fridays, funded by the company, but the typical order was 90% veg and 10% normal. Actually, I should say it like this... 90% not non-veg and 10% non-veg. To me honest, I preferred it when the company put on a decent feed of Samosas and other spicy Indian treats, even if they were always not non-veg.

I had a teamate timed out in a T20 game once.

It was his own fault. We kept telling him to hurry up but he kept shadow batting all the way out to the middle, playing all these shots and forgot to keep walking. Opposition captain appealled and he was given out and off he trudged. We thought it was a funny as **** as he was a bit of a knob and we were getting spanked anyway.

Angelo Matthews timed out.
He should have reviewed the decision!

Seriously though, the next bloke wasn't ready a further two minutes later due to all the carry on so if I was the Bangladesh captain I'd have appealed that one as well. Old Erasmus would have had a dilemma to deal with then I reckon.

I batted 11 in a game we lost outright. The top and middle order were being decimated and the umpire warned us he'd start timing out as we had a few blokes taking the piss trying to buy time so we'd get to the end of the day without being bowled out twice. He kept his word and timed out a guy who accidentally deliberately forgot his box. Nine down and I'm on my way out and a few of my teammates were pleading with me to slow to a turtle pace. I don't miss giving up my Saturday's for that rubbish 😂
