That's the problem. He's now a media darling and the media loves a North controversy. Everytime he's interviewed these questions will be asked and he'll rewrite it to make him come off as best as he possibly can.

The last two games has me returning back to this thread not to criticize or be negative but moreso realise that in 2021 and 2020, as we were going through a rebuild, that it was literally all in vein.
We literally were never going to see success or any improvement as a football club based on the personnel we had in senior positions at the club.

The reason I say this is because the list hasn’t changed all that considerably over the summer, yet footballers are doing things that we never thought was possible or achievable in such a short period of time.

Now I know it’s only 2 games but going over to Perth in round 2 and knocking over Freo on the rebound sans McKay and with so many kids named in the side is a win for the ages. Literally I never thought something like this was possible.

So from Clarko to Ratten to Viney to Shiels we finally have good people, the right people at the club and it couldn’t be in better hands.

All led by our great president Sonja who in my opinion will go down as one of the greats once she decides shes had enough.

Im thankful for Clarkson and co and we are genuinely truly blessed.
What a timely bump of the thread. Posted this Saturday night/Sunday morning then this campaigner randomly pops up on 360 three days later.

Coincidence? Or further proves that Robbo trawls this website for stories.

I think the biggest job Clarko has had at the club, since he has joined the NMFC, is rebuilding confidence and belief in the playing group.

All of which was destroyed by Noble, Younie and co in the previous 2 years.

That is the biggest statement you can make about Noble's contribution as a f@rking Senior coach.

He was a very poor one!

Alan is getting on a bit mate.

The other Alan has his hands full providing a bare bones flight experience.

Unless you mean James? You think young players want someone droning on about Homer?

Sorry can't think of any other Joyces who have ever demonstrated any football nouse.
flipping "AJ" is sub-human filth, cretin of the highest order. What's an anagram of Alan? How he treats the airline, employees and customers!

I don't begrudge him being a little bitter and feeling he was hard done by to an extent.

But he's essentially just admitted to gross incompetence in the job if his objective in 2022 was to make the team more defence focused. Failed dismally and the kicker is it made our forward system worse.

tazaa hey brother, this is part of the whole segment with Noble.

The part where he is asked, "do you still watch nm?" Response, "no way!" Is telling! (Although not covered in the quoted clip from gr).
I ended up severely disliking Noble because from my perspective he was destroying the club with his utter incompetence as a head coach and he was going to do that for as long as he could get away with, no matter how much damage that caused. This interview hasn't helped me to soften my view. The first question was if on reflection he could now see that he had got things wrong, but despite the utter disaster of his coaching tenure, he couldn't give a straight forward "yes". All he would admit to was that there were a few things he didn't get as right as he would have liked. He must have taken lessons from the Fonz by not being able to admit he was wrong. He always spoke with a forked tongue and he obviously hasn't changed.

Looking back in this thread, I can only say that it took a few people a while to work out this particular coach's caper...

I know. No need to pontificate. I saw the same as everybody else and had the same opinions, but on the subject of footy, Tef was at least able to recognise that the emperor was naked. It took a lot of others a long time to catch on.

He was the biggest fraud. What a waste of two years it was under him.

If you told me at the end of 2020, things would get bad and then worse, but then we’d get Clarko, I’d have taken that.

Was pretty graceless, his response when asked if he’d watch North games. Others have said it better - he couldn’t be at least happy for the players he coached? Just reeks of an angry, limited man who would burn everyone else before taking any responsibility himself and if that’s true, it makes sense what we saw. Relationships fell apart internally and could be seen externally on the field.

(If anyone’s seen that episode of Kitchen Nightmares Australia where Colin goes to that resort at Bateman’s Bay and deals with that ‘manager’ who just throws everyone under the bus and has nfi when the pressure is on - that dude reminded me of what I imagined nobles to be like behind the scenes)

Oh well. All those dusty, muddy roads led to Clarko and I’d go through it all again.

On the flip side the players gave up on him, and gave him no support.

Noble doesn’t deserve any excuses or sympathy - he was terrible - but the players phoning it in because they hated the coach is infuriating. We had to put up with this demoralising 10 goal loss every week crap because they didn’t like each other. The shits deserved a spray after the Brisbane “effort”.

It just went to show when we took Pies the whole way and beat Richmond - that wasn’t some new game plan learned in 3 days, it was effort. It was care and desire.

Now we’ve taken another step forward by having a decent coach but effort should always be a non negotiable.

He's doing the PR circuit with a view to return to football.

Which is probably a move the people at DJR would be thrilled with.

The next phase of his BS if the wins start stacking up, will be to infer that it was his drafting and development that Clarko is now benefiting from.

No argument from me on that score. He was not fond of people with opinions he didn't agree with. I'm only referring to his observation of the game though - Noble was getting a free ride from a fair cross section of the board. Anyway, this is a thread I would have preferred to stay out of now that you mention it.

I don't think there's much doubt that Tef knows at least a little bit about footy.

It's just more that he's a massive campaigner

Don't you find it interesting that on reflection, he feels that he went too defensive in his second season? The only thing I can point to that was too defensive compared with the previous season is that Noble had the defensive zones sitting very deep.

I think defense got us back into the realm of not looking completely shithouse in the second half of 2021 and I am sure that was largely off the back of Paul Roos, whom Noble had driven out of the club over that pre-season. After the halfway mark, we ended up with draw with GWS, lost to Lions by 23, beat Suns by 9, lost to Dogs by 29, beat Eagles by 10, lost to Bombers by 18, beat Blues by 39, lost to Cats by 20, lost to Tigers by 33, lost to swans by 14, lost to Crows by 44.

The Crows game was the only poor game but it was the last round, those can go pear-shaped when you have nothing to play for.

What happened between that second half and 2022 was all on Noble and it was amplified by the loss of Cunners and putting in JHF who wasn't interested in the defensive aspect of the game.

I think McKay (when he wasn't concussed), Corr and Walker did okay in terms of spoiling, we didn't hit any elite levels of defending but our key defenders didn't have abnormal 1-on-1 losses. They ranked up there with the better defenders. Two things killed us, defensive errors and turnovers trying to exit the defensive 50. There was no connection between the defenders and the mids. Hall was in the injury wars and he had moved Ziebell forward who was one of our better field kicks in the back half, he can't hit the high difficulty kick but he doesn't ****up the regulation kicks like a lot of other players Noble pushed back.

It was just the tsunami of repeat I50 entries and goals conceded from defensive errors. We are still making some mistakes down back but we have reigned them in a lot.

What didn't help Noble was the extent of the injuries we had, we lost Cunners early. Hall only played 11 games and was subbed off in two of those due to injury, McKay only played 15 and was subbed off for 4 of those games with injury/concussions. There was too much disruption.
