NMFC vs Swans at Narrandera - Friday night

There is a very good airport at Narrandera - they have daily flights to Sydney but I don't think there are any commercial flights from Melbourne though. Perhaps a charter flight?

North Melbourne will be hoping for a better outing in Narrandera with the last match the club played at the ground ending unfavorably.

The Sydney Swans thrashed North Melbourne by 83 points in the Country Day game which was played on Sunday March 9 1986.

The win gave the Swans a great deal of momentum heading into the home and away season in front of an appreciative 9000 strong crowd.

The Swans were 90 minutes late to the ground after a flight schedule change in Sydney but the delay didn’t have any impact on full forward Warrick Capper who starred with seven goals.

For the Kangaroos, Phil Krakouer kicked two goals in a team which fielded current AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou, assistant coach Darren Crocker and chief of football Donald McDonald.

Sydney 19.19(133) defeated North 7.8 (50)

Goals:
Sydney: Warrick Capper 7, Gerard Healy 3, A Daniher 2, T Morwood 2, G Williams 2, G Coleman, B Mitchell, S Wright 1;
North Melbourne: P Krakouer 2, M Passmore, J Krakouer, S McCann, B Ryan, W Schimmelbusch 1.

Apparently, there is an airport at Narrandera with two flights a day from Sydney. That should cover the Swans. North will charter a plane (small) and limit the trip to selected players and required staff, is my understanding.

maybe Colby can fly them up

We had approx 4 -5 inches of rain in Wagga on the weekend, Narrandera would have copped some of this. From all reports the ground was in good nick before this came.

The ground is the best in the region by far, all RFL GF are played there.

Tickets for the game are $14 adult, $2 for kids under 15 and $28 for a family ( 2 adults 2kids)

There should be a good crowd in for the game, gates open at 4pm.

Looking forward to seeing the younger boys in action, especially Cunnington. From all reports on here he must be a fine prospect. Will not be back till approx 2300h from the game so I won't be ale to add anything till Sat arvo to any match report.

Cheers all.

Anything would be welcome hopper, and good to see you're still around these parts too mate. I was worried that our Canberra abandonment had left you in our wake. Very exciting times and I hope your kids are onboard (with us, not those bloody Swans). Thanks for the ground/game info hopper :thumbsu:

Hey TT, I'm still on board :thumbsu:, more of a reader than a poster these days. The Swans are a dirty work in our house, we get everygame live on free to air of the swanettes down here.

Boys are pumped and have got all the gear out already. Both teams have picked near to full lists so it should be a good indication how they will go this year.

Heard on the radio today that close to 4000 tickets had been pre-sold already.

I've tacken the day off work to get myself prepared, a lazy 18 holes of golf should get me in the mood.

Cheers all

Hey Hopper, I was hoping to get in on my membership, any chance of a sellout?

Id hate to make the 5/6 hour drive only to be turned away at the gate. Will be a very angry drive home.
