NMFC's Media Strategy: Smart or Vindictive?

Let's put it this way. I used to have a subscription to the Age before they decided to become a ridiculous paid for advertisement for the AFL. I will never be a subscriber ever again. Live and learn. That applies to me and the Age.

This is probably where I should step in...

There is no intent on leaving The Age out in the cold whatsoever from North's point of view.

Hope this clears it up a bit...

Heath.

And that's fine Heath. But I don't have any need to be as diplomatic as the club does. People associated with the Age were at the forefront of kicking us while down, I'll spend the next ten years contentedly cracking them on the nose.

So are you saying that it's The Australian you are leaving out in the cold?
No mention of our position with Il Globo as well.

And did I read right, Heath is aiming to see Dick very soon.

Same here. I'll read it at work but would never buy it again after their treatment of my club. They (she) did everything possible to drive the GC agenda and even with WANM she was the only journo that never acknowledged an email or returned a telephone call. Never! Thats not balanced reporting. Thank god for the Hun and, in particular, Damian Barrett. Sad that he has now left the Hun.

Just out of interest, will you be using a rolled up Herald-Sun to do so ?

Oh, and thanks for the input, Vegetarian Heath.

(Lucky blog articles don't have a soul.)

Just a quick question, VH - has the Troll From Under The Punt Road Bridge been down to check out the new facilities yet ?

Cheers Heath, Though there was a certain post you made recently about the Chief Football Writer that could have left some doubt.

In fact, I find it interesting that in your list there you named pretty much every Age footy journo excthept two.

I respect that mate as I'm sure many North supporters do.

Heath - would it be fair to say that rather than us boycotting The Age (as you have amply demonstrated is false) that rather two key Age football journalists seem to have no inclination to write any postive stories about us?

im pretty uncomfortable about where this is heading. asking a club official to comment about specific people with some decent league contacts and pull on a public forum isnt going to end up that well.

I see nothing wrong with asking if Caro has been down to check out the new facilities but, yeah, anything beyond that, then you probably make a fair point.

F.ck the Aged
As long as the Cow is their head of AFL reporting, F.ck them
If the Aged wants to be treated as a serious news organisation, they have to sack the Cow, and the Lanes.

I check out The Age and HS everyday, as I always have. That way I know what's being reported from all sides. The Age Sport section appeals mainly for Michael Lynch's brilliant and informed coverage of all things soccer, for me, and the once in a blue moon North feature article (like the Cruize one Heath mentioned). I don't subscribe btw.

The HS footy coverage makes The Age equivalent look like childish crayon scribbles for the most part, although I'm peeved when they go on a run of BIG club love fest articles, at smaller clubs' expense.

Heath can't be much more open than he's been here. Kudos to you Heath. Let us know if The Horrible Asp makes it down to Arden St so we can discuss her here. IT's hardly ever spoken of on BF.

Heath is under no compulsion to answer.

Sadly, the North BF board has yet to get powers like the OPI whereby we can compel those we summon to answer our questions.

Its just an accident waiting to happen SLF. I would hate for a misguided post on a nothing thread to jeopordise ongoing representation of club officials on this forum. No Bull and BB_29 have been sensational to us here recently, would hate for the communication lines to be broken between BF and club.

For all we know Heath could be a little tired & emotional late on a thursday night - im not sure anything beneficial to nmfc can come from that line of questioning.

We all remember the harmless chicken video, she is evil with an axe to grind so we better not get her juices flowing.

Andrea Petie is an asset for the Age.
She was the 1st Journo to interview LA in depth in 2009, just before he was diagnosed injured before Rd1.
I read everything she writes with interest.
She has a soft spot for NMFC....hope Cowro doesn't sniff her out.

Yeah, good call hundini. RESPECT for Andrea Petrie.

She's quite the Pipette I hear.

Also, while we are praising The Age, massive ruspekt for Emma Quayle.

Gets it right so often.

Yeah, another good call. Emma's virtually the media doyen of all things draft related, and she's spent alot of time around Arden St over the years. Again, RESPECT!

We are an open club and will entertain requests from most reporters.

Hope this clears it up a bit...

Heath.
Thanks for the update Heath..love the way the club communicates with members these days!

Is it wishful thinking on my part, or does the bolded part imply that the Vile Serpent is not welcome at Arden St?

I wouldn't mind seeing the club invite her to come down & inspect the new setup........if she'll write a column headed 'I Was Wrong' !!! :D

She is. She's no relation to Brady Rawlings' lineage. They're Beakers, if anything.

excellent play on words. 4 out of 5 possible golden ziebells

Who are these North supporting Age readers?

I would be one. I can't stand the Hun's news content, loads of garbage. Sports section on the other hand is okay, so I just read the superfooty (and do supercoach) online.

I still read RealFooty stuff, and just ignore North bagging articles.

That said, I am glad for Norths' venture into providing news themselves (on facebook, twitter, rootube)... those are much better and original source. :) :thumbsu: So I rely more on those than Hun or The Age.
