Which I do believe YOUR coach said that your team dragged the Crows down.

What do you expect him to say, we were great but the Crows dragged us down?

Don't get me wrong. I have a great admiration for Port Adelaide Power. Called into Alberton Oval a couple of years back for a family / guernsey presentation day coming away thinking what a great honorable club of tradition with wonderful family people.

But, sadly, I am comfortable in predicting that there will be no back-to-back premierships this year unless they turn things around dramatically.

I know there are injuries and a suspension but if I have ever seen a bad case of premiership hangover I saw it against the Crows on Sunday.

One of the main causes of a hangover is players, who were daredevils and full of guts and determination last season, being half hearted and waiting for someone else to do the work and something to happen to turn around a game, not to mention a slipping-up of football skills.

Just a thought.

That is just a stupid post. It's quite obvious that if we continue to play like we have been, we will not win it again. Once we get some players back from injury however, I have no doubt we will bounce back.

I saw Goodwin McLeod and Riccutto carry the team (as usual)

Actually, there was considerable debate if Ricciuto should have got the Showdown medal or not. Other contenders were Mattner, McGregor & Reilly probably ahead of Edwards, Goodwin & McLeod.

The Crows "old reliables" did contribute, play well and were indeeed amongst the best players - but it is nonsense to suggest that they alone carried the team.

Scotland and pick 17 would have been handy.

Has Billy Morrison gotten out of Williamstown reserves yet?

Yes I did take a bit of poetic licence, when you win by plenty you dont do it with just three players. Mattner was hard at it , Reilly was genuinely good, and McGregor was effective. You still lack a lot in the youth department compared to other teams. But without your big three you're in deep trouble. Futures not too rosy at the Crows.

By the way hows Watts travelling? (not a troll, a genuine question)

Played well at CHB for the Eagles in the last two weeks.

Eagles have Stevens, Passador and Ellis up forward and so Watts has played back.

Would imagine he would play most of the year in the SANFL which will be good for his confidence. Look for him to be a regular player in the AFL next year, and will pinch hit this year if we get injuries to the likes of hentschel Rutten McGregor and Bassett.

So does every team in the comp. Possibles are different from probables. I've seen nothing from the Crows to see them any differently placed on the ladder than last year.

You obviously didnt watch the game on the w/e then did you????

And dont give me Port had injuries and suspensions, we all know they did and you can only play the opposition you are given on the day, it was the 2nd teir players stood up that has impressed all Crows supporters, the likes of Reilly, Mattner, Torney, Mcgregor and Rutten, all put there hand up on the w/e with fantastic results.

Nobody is claiming the Crows are going to be top 4 but the club is definately going to improve.

& there's another guy who apparently is going to be the next tredrea/reiwoldt of the league.

I hope Hentschel dont turn out to be like Tredrea cuase he got taken to the cleaners on the w/e, by McGregor, we want a forward that can win his position every week, and at least kick straight.

Tredrea had a bad game, as did most of the team. He has proven to be a champion, and you can't claim he isn't due to one bad performance.

Port will obviously struggle to even make the eight. In 2003 Port were 1-2 after 3 rounds with their only win being against Hawthorn and I can't recall where Port finished at the end of the home-and-away but it obviously must have been out of the eight. Last year Port got flogged by Melbourne in round 4, touched up by Adelaide in round 7 and then topped it all off with a humiliating 92 point loss to the Kangaroos in round 8. It's no wonder they got the wooden spoon in 2004 ..........didn't they?

I don't know about that :

Round 3

GOALS – Adelaide: Welsh 4, McLeod 2, Hentschel 2, Goodwin 2, Shirley 2, Johncock, Ricciuto, Mattner, Edwards, Skipworth, Reilly.

BEST – Adelaide: Ricciuto, Edwards, Mattner, Goodwin, Hentschel, McGregor, Reilly, Doughty

There is fair representation of names from the "youth department" in that list - in fact the names range across the entire age spectrum of the side - which is exactly what you want.

I would have thought by now you would no longer regard mcgregor as a second tier player, but if you do we will trad a second tier player for him at the end of the year.

Rutten better than second tier but due to the amount of games yes he is in that catagory.

Depends how you look at it. Drill down to your very best and your biggest goalkickers and its mainly the old blokes.

I would possibly consider McGregor to be in our 'main' group of players I guess, he is sort of 'ify'.
