Noah Balta - Does he have the AFL's rarest skill set?

Exactly, I think he spoke well. The majority of players would’ve refused the interview. To talk straight after the event after basically ******* up showed great maturity. Spoke really well.
We don’t have to patronise the bloke.

Good on him for fronting up to have a few words post-game after a disappointing result which Balta himself was directly responsible for, but he’s clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

And that’s OK - footballers aren’t usually super bright and if not for having the ability to kick a leather ball Balta would be working in a lumbar yard somewhere.

It’s not the first interview I’ve seen of his he has come across a little slow.

Noah Balta is a flag winning KPD that can pinch hit in the ruck, this year he has become an elite FWD/Ruck.

Is there any player in the AFL that can play Ruck, KPD and KPF at an elite level?
Yes. Mark Blicavs. Can ruck and then immediately switch to playing on a small midfielder. Can play defence, wing and forward. He is the consummate utility of the modern game.

And before you say Blicavs has only played well in recent weeks, he is a dual B&F winner and could make it 3 this year

No. You get over it.

I'm quite happy luxuriating in Balta's stupidity and misfortune, thank you very much. It's really funny. Not just the massive pile on, but also the Richmond supporters melting harder than delicious Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream that's fallen on the pavement during a Melbourne heatwave. It's wonderful and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I am so pleased to hear this, because f*ck we enjoyed the Mark Neeld and Jack Watts years. 😁

Harsh. He didn’t give the typical monosyllabic answers most footballers give which actually caught my ear. He praised Fremantle and wished them well for the rest of their season which you never hear.

Why is he a few sandwiches short? Because he doesn’t have media training and got nervous?

Presumably Balta has passed 12 years of schooling and has the requisite media training rolled out by the club - none of what he said post game would indicate a moderate intellect.

If they ever let Steven Avery out of federal prison, sit him through a couple of PD seminars and have him rotating through the Richmond 22 he’d manufacture a pretty similar post-game response.

Get over it, a nervous 20 year old says something wrong when unexpectedly gets a microphone and camera shoved into his face that’s also being broadcast nationally, whoopdee doo
It's not a hanging offence and he doesn't deserve the pile-on he'll inevitably get......but at the same time "meh who cares" is probably not what Tigers fans wanted to hear after that....

Will be hilarious watching the Blues leave Jack Silvagina out of their finals team for “team balance” once Pittonet returns.

Or even more hilarious if they play him. 😁

Pitto coming back just means Silvagni returns to his natural position and doesn't have to take one for the team anymore and ruck anymore, lol what are you on about?

Bit tough to return to his natural position when it is occupied by De Koning PC. 😉

Errr is natural position is not second ruck/forward... Good try though

Did you not watch round one?

OK, so Mckay, Curnow, DeKoning the tall forwards and Jill Silvagni becomes the slowest pressure forward in AFL history…sounds like a plan. 😁

Worked pretty well against you blokes

Oh yeah….2 goals between the 4 of them, worked a charm. 😂

Could have been a real embarrassing thrashing if they had the form they have now.

Didn’t you lose to us when "they had the form they have now?” 💁

This whole discussion is about when Pitto returns...

Well, let’s just say I would quite like to see you guys play the 4 tall forwards in the finals….or explain to Jack Silvagni he is second emergency, or tell DeKoning he is sitting out. I would love to be a Craig McRae on the wall when that little selection discussion is taking place. 😁

I'm glad you've accepted you won't be playing finals.

I see Pitto has returned, and…….as you heard here first…."rich man’s Noah Balta” Jill Silvagni unceremoniously dropped. 😎😎😎

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh dear oh dear. 🤣🤣

Shame on all you who did not listen to the truth as foretold to you by truth foreteller Meteoric Rise, who looked around a corner and saw this coming while others closed their minds to this eminently predictable reality. All you who laughed, lambasted, ridiculed, belittled, you have brought nothing but humiliation and shame to yourselves, your families and your clubs. 😁😁😁

Wow, this would have taken you at least 5 minutes to put together, how embarrassing.

Does anybody know how big the shot clock is? Just remembered Balta wears glasses. Poor bloke probably couldn’t see the time left

They banned players from milking the clock. Now the umpire will call move it on if a player appears to be milking the clock, at which time the player has to start their run up or will get called play on.

Balta's issue was with his ears and attention span, not his eyes.

What about? You not playing finals?

Come on PC, you are better than that. Just admit you wrongly said when Pittonet returns to the side it won’t be at Jill Silvagni’s expense and we can all have a chuckle and move on.

It does frighten me somewhat that I seem to know Carlton better than you do. I better try to un-know some stuff about the Blues team, it makes me really uncomfortable I know more than such a knowledgable Blues supporter as yourself. 😁

Probably the best Defender/Forward utility I've seen was a West Coast player by the name of Adam Hunter. He was primarily a KPD but would often be sent forward when the team is losing and kick bags of goals and turn games. I don't know why they didn't just make him a permanent forward.
Hi Mrs. Hunter.

Just for the record, the most he kicked in a game was 4 goals, and he only did it 4 times in his career. Incidentally, all four occasions were in 2006, and two of those were in the finals that year.

Actually, if you look at my posting history you'll see that I thought Jack would be the most likely to make way, but I still think he regains his spot in a week or two after a rest.

Your post was about leaving Jack out of our finals side, which is completely different.

Come on PC, you could at least acknowledge the issue I flagged and you dismissed is an issue. Why has Silvagni been left out if not due to the side looking unbalanced with all of him, McKay, Curnow, DeKoning and Pittonet in it?

He is being rested in all probability, if you watched more than one or two Carlton games all season, Jack has played all over the ground, esp pinch hitting in the ruck, which I dare say, would be physically draining for someone of his frame and age.

His improvement in the last 18 months has been outstanding, beats me what your beef with SOS is, not is fault that Balta has not come on as expected/if not stagnated since this thread was made.

I believe generally speaking most Carlton fans are much more happy with Silvagni and his development than Richmond fans with Balta

Silvagina > Balta, now that is funny. 🤣

Silvagni is a reasonable player in his role. And as you say Silvagni has improved into what I would call a very competitive AFL player. But he appears to me to have been squeezed out of the team due to team balance, which I foreshadowed with the posts and for which I was jumped all over. He is named in the VFL team, so is not being rested. Re-roled maybe?

Do you see a forward line with 4 talls including the second ruck and Silvagni working for the Blues in finals? I don’t.

And as for your comparison of Silvagni with Balta…..if Carlton rang Richmond and said they would like to swap Silvagni for Balta in a straight swap, how long do you think it would take the Tigers to consider their response? And if Richmond rang the Blues and offered Balta in a straight swap for Silvagni I am guessing you have the Blues saying no thanks we prefer Silvagni? I. Don’t. Think. So.

Please point out where I said Silvagni was better than Balta, just said he has improved (in my opinion) significantly more in the last 18 months than Balta.

I think Balta will be a gun Backman and probably a decent pinch hit Ruckman, we have seen enough of a sample size to say he just doesn't have the nous to play as a forward
