Bowling's not the issue for Australia though. It'll be interesting to see how the top 6 fare.

Frustrated World Cup GIF

Bit of a reckoning coming for the batting line-up you'd reckon. It's been a great run but time for a bit of re-jig
Smith is done, not even judging on todays peach.
Our batting line up is in a terrible spot right now, in between generations

Yep the scary thing is who do we replace these batsman with.

There isn't anyone in shield that is demanding selection tbh.

I would be saving Konstas for next year why burn him against Bumrah.

He will be more ready in 12 months and England have a popgun attack compared to India with Broad and Anderson retired.

Our first innings score is a disgrace. Marnus played well. That is about all we can say. Have we completely lost the ability to dig in for an hour?
The players don't care. They're all seemingly undroppable

If Smith and Marnus have hit the wall, we have to start rebuilding the top six before the Ashes. I think India has us covered this Summer.
As an Englishman it won't matter. We will be uncompetitive out here like always and get smashed. It'll look flat as a road when we bowl and look like a bouncy green seamer when we bat. I'd like to be proven wrong but I just don't see it.

Has to be Smith and Usman out first.

There should be a lot of opportunity in the next five years. When those two are moved out there is another group who will be 35ish. We are quite an old team.

Bit pathetic the running between the wickets for the Australians. I know they have been out fielding all day but twice since Cummings came out they could have got an extra run just from running harder. Indians would have.

Steve Smith is out of form. Khawaja has struggled this year.
Labuschagne has been out of form for 2 years. All 3 average under 30 this year.
Warner is gone, and McSweeney is playing his first test, and first first class game as opener.

That leaves Marsh and Head. Marsh was unbelieve last year, but over his career averages 30.

This leaves Head. He is also averaging under 30 this year.

So 6 players averaging under 30, I should not have had high expectation we would win.

I don't think we have a lot of players playing great at first class level. Maybe McSweeney could be moved to the middle order, and the young nsw player could come in, but it is probably a year or two early for him.

I agree, we will have some pain in the short term until a few players perform. Hopefully someone can stand up for the odd innings, to make the test series competitive.

Unless we pull 3-4 test class batsman out of our ass in the next 3 years, we're going to become uncompetitive with the better teams pretty soon.
I don't think that will be the case as outside of India most of the test teams across the world are pretty average.

England are too busy drinking in there own bathwater with Bazball.

What we will see and seeing now is the standard of batting in test matches disintegrate across the world.

India have so much talent they could pick 3 teams. Its amazing we have beaten them in big one off games that has probably prevented a dynasty.

I still can't see countries like Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka winning a series out here.

New Zealand have the ability but for some reason just melt when they see a baggy green cap.

South Africa always trouble us but barely play test cricket.
