Collingwood or Freo for me. The rest I could puke on. I hate to think how miserable the next year would be living outside Geelong if they win it. I still think there fans are the absolute worst. Even Collingwood fans complained about them.

TBH, I'd be pretty happy to see Collingwood win it.

They get us, and I think most Dogs people get them. They detest Carltank - gotta love that. Essingdrug, too.

Working class roots, them coming to our aid (in a big way) in 89, Eddie helping find us a sponsor in the rather bad days (!) of 2002-3.

They're alright in my book ;)

The courage and self belief they have shown in their wins this year is amazing! Would be good to see them keep it up - except against us :)

Was just taking a look at the airfares IF we were to make it to a PF in Sydney.

Boy oh Boy, they are expensive. $400 to $500 one way, as it's the first weekend of school holidays.

That's enough for me to barrack for Melbourne to beat Sydney.

They play a good brand of footy to watch and they knocked Carlton out. More than enough for me.

Freo, pies or us.

And one of those teams is guaranteed to make a prelim minimum with the draw.
Thing is, the remaining 2 will most likely not make a prelim (unless pies beat cats week 1).

From the hun discussing the cats.

I suspect they don't even bother with the soft cap and pay the tax?

"Chief executive Steve Hocking revealed the Cats hired 16 new people in football boss Simon Lloyd’s program, which comprises 33 full-timers. That included coaches James Kelly, Eddie Betts and Matthew Egan, and the influx helped refresh the likes of Chris Scott, assistant Shaun Grigg, fitness guru Scott Murphy and perhaps the players."

Sheesh the difference in that list of support staff compared to ours is very stark.

Just paying the rich person tax where the penalty barely matters to people that can afford it.

Shame we play Freo first week, definitely be getting behind them for the flag otherwise. Fyfe's long been my favourite non Bulldogs player and if ever there's a guy who deserves a flag to go out on its Mundy.
Let's get the Sentimental Favourite out of contention. If SF wins the Elimination Final, there's no stopping it. Look what happened in 2016.

Easy to do when you keep getting government hand outs to tidy up their kitty litter.

How many tjmes do governments have to fund Western Oval improvements ? Geelong has been smarter, far smarter than fat blokes with pony tails or reliance upon the ALP. How many times does our Club have to go, cap in hand, to fat blokes with pony tails or governments to save us ? Wasn't 1989 enough ? At long last, we stand on our own 2 feet, like Geelong, just not as smart.

We received funding to turn Whitten Oval into a community resource, we are upgrading but putting our own money into it as well. Geelong is a marginal seat, so they have received funding from both ALP and LNP.

I don’t recall the Government helping us out in 1989, and I fail to get your point? Is this another swipe at the Labour Party?

It’s a response to your dig at Geelong’s funding by Governments. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones..

Hasn't Geelong been a safe Labor seat for 20 years now?
Sarah Henderson lost her seat to Labour at the previous election, but she is still lurking around. Areas such as Queenscliffe, Ocean Grove etc are all Coalition voters. Corio is a safe Labour seat.

So how is this allowed by the AFL? How?

What a dumb conclusion.

A large proportion of the Geelong area is marginal, so a fair whack of the redevelopment down there has been pork barrelling, plain and simple. How much money will governments shove at friggen Geelong?

The improvements to Whitten Oval are about 20 years late and what's more it's a miracle governments have finally stopped taking for granted and/or ignoring the west.

Geelong $19.5 mil. Bulldogs $44 mil. Stones down.

Having been there for work a couple of times, I can tell you there is nothing safe about Corio.
