Melbourne flag favorites easy. I know Collingwood had the edge on them last season. But the Demons already look much better this season across the field from a structure stand point. Defensively sound as always, and seem to be scoring better than last season. Collingwood are the next best, even with tonights loss. A little bit of a gap after that. Still 19 rounds to go.

Lions still seem like they are one of those teams who will dominate at home, and be average away, as usual. Mind you, smashing the two current flag fancies at home is a great effort.

Trading out Grundy to Melbourne for next to nothing wasn’t a great idea.

The music after goals at the Gabba is the lamest thing ever. ******* John Denver, give me a break.

It’s just so repetitive, Charlie kicking 5 doesn’t help.
Who played on him last week 😁

Even with the home ground advantage beating the Dees and Pies while losing to Port and us just doesn’t make any sense. That’s not a team who can win 3-4 finals in a row.

They’ve never been a team that can win 3-4 finals in a row, and have never looked like it. They’ve been terrible for basically 3-4 years in finals, then won two last year before face planting again.

Anyone putting money on them for the flag is just throwing it away. Their only chance was when the GF was at the Gabba and they shit the bed then as well.

Ashcroft > Daicos.
He looks real good Ashcroft, so poised. Daicos is a freak though, still running quicker than almost everyone out there deep into the 4th.

Collingwood's lack of ruck means they don't have much margin of error, will drop a few more until dopey Cox returns.

Ashcroft looks great, and he’s only played a few games. But as much as I dislike the circle jerk in AFL media on Daicos (for his sake I’d hope they dial it down) I don’t think I saw him waste a disposal except giving away the free kick on Cameron.

He makes the right decision almost every time, and can kick it to wherever he needs it to go (even when under pressure). Imo in the last 10-15 years there hasn’t been this much of a certainty that - barring injury - he’ll play 300, captain his club, etc etc.

That doesn’t mean he’ll be better than Fyfe, Neale, Cripps, Oliver, Bont, Dangerfield etc - just that it’s almost a certainty that he’s in that conversation at some point.

There was one kick when he got in trouble on the wing but took his time, selected the right option even though it was tricky, and executed perfectly. There might be half a dozen guys in the comp I’d have trusted in that situation.

Yeah, he’s going to be a generational player. So much class and clearly has a great footy brain. I think he’s gonna be a better version of Pendlebury…which is saying something.
He’s so skilful and just unreal with the ball, like genuinely unmatched - when he’s loose, can he step up and play midfield against modern day midfielders though? I dunno, he’s tiny - it’s going to be interesting to watch his career play out

They also traded out Max Lynch recently so they have added to their own problem.

Oh yeah, it's absolutely a problem of their own creation. It's like if we lost all of English, Sweet, Lobb, Bruce and Darcy one way or another so we were left with Gardner and Khamis having to spend all their time in the ruck.

Is it just me or were collingwood a bit soft at the contest on quite a few occasions last night? Bodylining the contested ball might be the way to go against them, but not sure we have the 22 to do it without dunks.
They are a bit small in the midfield. Having no ruck doesn’t help.

They actually play like us. Trying to be ultra attacking and getting burnt on the turnover. Cameron and Rayner had a feast on the out the back plays.
