Barassi was the greatest AFL legend ever IMHO. An awesome player, competitor, leader, coach, commentator, visionary. He wasn’t perfect but he tried to be his best at everything he did. Even grew up in Footscray.

Its sad that an absolute icon and possibly the biggest name the game has ever seen has passed.

However whenever I heard his name or saw his face I couldn't help but be taken back to a time when the other icon of the period Ted Whitten would jokingly* call Barassi Mrs Football to his Mr Football. The two were always linked and it's the first thing that came to mind when I heard the news this afternoon.
