Tom Green saying that the AFL is “Vic Bias” might be more applicable if he didn’t play for the giants - quite literally the team that got a million handouts from the AFL.

He makes an interesting point about non-Vic draftees being overlooked. I'm not sure you can say it's Vic-bias as in his draft year interstate clubs had picks 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 and all but one picked a Vic kids. Melbourne used 3 on Jackson from WA, Carlton bid on Henry from WA and Green at 10.

So with Andrew Dunkley quickly approaching disillusionment with Brisbane about his son (it's only a matter of time), we should expect a Josh Dunkley trade request back to VUWO? :laughv1:
Dunkley can stay at Brisbane

I'm sure we can scrounge a pick 17 (before bids) from somewhere

Does anyone have the inside track on this story?
The rumours getting around my mates WhatsApp group is off the charts, totally unpublishable. I am hearing he and Lachie Hunter, although mates, may not be that good for one another? All very strange. I’ve personally been on this planet for over 50 years and haven’t even been near an ambulance, but fit young 20 something footballers apparently take up more state resources than most of us use in our lifetimes.

Just noticed Dunks has listed his Port Melbourne property at about 100k less than the purchase price
Dodoro had made an offer but it's $400k less

It would be an interesting exercise to do a deep dive on the draft picks and whether the draft sliders or draft finds have been non-Vic. Most drafts in the recent past have been very Vic heavy at the top. Last season the top 8 (including Ashcroft) were all Vic. 2018 seems to be the recent exception with 3 SA in the top 5 as well as 2 Tas and a NSW in the top 10.

With the Green example, if he hadn't have been an academy player I find it very hard to imagine he wouldn't have gone top 4. For whatever reason clubs decided they weren't going to make GWS match a bid for him. Same as Daicos who definitely would've been pick one. Only real reason Carlton seemed to bid on Henry and Green were to buy time as they were orchestrating a live trade so could have slipped more.

An ex-schoolmate and ex-player (not Dogs) I know who has spent some time in player mgmt reckons what he's hearing from within industry circles is mildly concerning, but nowhere near the more extreme activity he's aware of by an AFL player, nor a mid-20s male. No real surprise I guess.

Wouldn't go into specifics, and tbh I'm not really interested, but he said it will need much more than Gawn alone to sort out - IF what is being said is accurate.

Bit sad really. I was watching Clayton Oliver closely in the warm ups before our round 1 game this year. He was so upbeat, even having jokes with our players. I thought here is a great fella. Hope he can get through this? We all saw Ben Cousins spiral so far down and destroy his career and family life all in the public gaze. This demon gets such a hold on some folk they’ll never recover if they don’t break it before it’s too late.

Re those WhatsApp threads mentioned above, I am on a couple of threads with mates, some of the content is so fake I just wonder what the purpose of the content is? The initial one I received was player A was caught shagging Player B’s pregnant wife so he towelled him up. As if?

Does it make us (society) feel good to hear stories of sport celebrities life’s being completely ****ed up through drugs and f**king team mates heavily pregnant wife’s despite the fact on the balance of probabilities it is not true? It’s weird. Dudes want to be first on the gossip with their made up accounts.

To counter that, do members have have a right to know of the actual truth? I’m not convinced they do. I’m happy for clubs to get rid of dickheads and as long as there is no criminal conviction the public has no right to know of individual failings. It would appear the dogs have got rid of at least 3 dickheads (who were good players) from our Premiership team in my opinion we got all 3 correct.
