If Sydney play GWS in the QF I think GWS can win that one.

Port will take care of Geelong esp at AO, but even at the MCG too they are good chance as well.
EDIT Not likely to happen. Look at the ladder. Power and GWS are most likely playing week one

David King just mentioned that Brisbane's biggest issues are in the coaches box.

Surely it hasn't taken him until now to work this out, it's been obvious for at least three years that Chris Fagan is a mediocre coach.
Agreed. After choking the last 2 weeks, my gut feeling is Fagan will be boned end of the year unless they make a Prelim MINIMUM from here

If he gets less than Rankine, then we need to kick up a storm. Rankine didn't even hit Starcevich high, it was the head clash that resulted in the concussion.

And how the hell is not considered intentional? He elected to bump.
Didn't intentionally hit him high.

However, it got sent to the tribunal because they want more than 3.

(H) CLASSIFIABLE OFFENCES GRADED AS SEVERE IMPACT
In respect of a charge for a Classifiable Offence where the Impact is graded by the MRO as Severe, if only the minimum prescribed sanction (set out in the table in section (b) above) is sought, at the AFL’s discretion the MRO will specify that minimum prescribed sanction and the Player may submit a Notice of Early Plea and accept the sanction without the matter being referred directly to the Tribunal. If the MRO does not specify that the minimum prescribed sanction is sought, the charge will be referred to the Tribunal and the charged Player will not have the option to enter an early plea.

If GWS lose to the Dogs by even 10 or so points and Geelong beat West Coast by 50 ish points, Geelong get 3rd and play Port.

But you can even throw things in like if Port lose by a bit and GWS and Geelong win, Port go to 4th and play Sydney.

GWS could even lose by 10, Port lose by 50 or 60 and GWS jump them and send Port to 4th.

Actually apologies you are absolutely correct. l I had thought the % differential was insurmountable but as you say GWS and Cats could possibly change spots, cheers

They don't seem to be able to shift momentum when under fire. Just keep taking on water

It’s been classified as ‘careless’. He’ll get three weeks
It's an interesting one. Christian bizarrely chose to rate it as reckless - but at the same time he sent it straight to the tribunal. He's only supposed to send it directly to the tribunal when the normal grading system is deemed inadequate for the offence.

Anywhere between 3-6 weeks appears possible at this stage.

In other words... high contact was made. It's irrelevant that it was a head clash - he chose to bump, and a head clash is a foreseeable outcome of the bump. Rankine was not hard done-by, he was dealt with correctly, as per the tribunal guidelines.
And how the hell is not considered intentional? He elected to bump.
Agree 100%

At least he sent it directly to the tribunal, so there is still scope for a larger penalty to be applied.

The AFL are scared of suspending anyone for a grand final. They don't want the legal issues.
But anything less than 4 will be an utter disgrace and completely indefensible. It should be 6 weeks. Of course we know that the AFL have zero consistency.

It's a big test for the AFL. Are they really serious about concussion and sniping, or only when it suits them?

It's also a test for our club. After the McAdam and Rankine bans, if a soft ban is given here, we should be going apeshit. And doing it publicly. We should call out the hypocrites at AFL house.

Interstate club.

AFL will have no problems banning him for grand final so they can ‘see! we do ban regardless of point of the season!’

We’ve seen this with Toby Greene and Gaff.

It’s not like it’s a player from Collingwood (or Carlton with a brownlow on the line).

Port don't get treated like most interstate clubs. The Vic media are very sympathetic to them.
