Their list isn't that good. They've got half a dozen 32 year olds that have won premierships and are probably prolonging their careers for peanuts (Hawkins and Tuohy retired, also got Dangerfield, Duncan, Stanley, Guthrie)

The middle of their list experience wise are pretty standard role players like Henry, Miers, Atkins, Close. They've got a few younger stars like Holmes and De Koning to pay but no crazy bulk of young superstars.

Couple of big dollar players like Cameron and Stewart

I'd be gobsmacked if that sort of list in 2025 was over the cap even adding in a million dollar player like Bailey Smith

On top of the average prediction being 12th, it takes into account knowing they’re an extremely well run club with recent success and a high end coaching group. And despite those advantages, even posters who predicted 12th are now calling shenanigans. I don’t know how they can reconcile the 2 views. When predicting a ladder all you’ve got is the relative quality of lists and recent histories of performance.

Is Kenny Hinkley the David Mackay of the coaches?

Shuestar13 breathes a sigh of relief.

😆

Very much contrary to what Morris said yesterday evening. There is a lot of scepticism about much of what all these VaFL journalists report on when it comes to WCE, they are so far removed from what goes on here. Unless it comes from a local journalist with a proven track record, we tend to disregard much of what comes out of Melbourne.

Still never say never… but I just can’t see it (Ken to WCE).

What do we think of the reports that he and Poort will mutually end things if they lose this week? It’s imperative they are out of the finals ASAP, but sadly, the fun might well be over by early next week :(

I think good operators appoint the right coach for the right reasons. Bit like us, nothing wrong with getting a nice guy for 2-3 years, we then needed to move on. Ken can get them relevant again with zero risk. If they lob on a Bolton or Neeld, they can kiss 5 more years goodbye.
I see what you are saying.

Just can't see Pyke appointing a guy I doubt he respects as a good coach.

When Ken leaves Port, will be interesting to see what kind of job he ends up with.

Really in demand or just Crocmedia employees and Geelong people talking him up.

I don't see Brisbane winning three finals away from home in a row to win the premiership - they just can't maintain their best for long enough.

Port are Port in finals - write them off. I thought this might be the year they overcome their September woes, but the QF put that idea to bed.

In order of premiership likelihood, I think:

Sydney (just)
Geelong
GWS
Hawthorn

Brisbane

Port

The football media really does suck.
Just my opinion....

Dockers should of gotten that 8th spot over Carlton.

Say what you want... Yes it sucked that the Dockers lost 4 Games Narrowly. those last 3 games were Cats, GWS and Port. All 3 ended up top 4.

Carlton made a prelim in 2023 and ended up making 8th with a softer draw and umpires helping them over the line in certain games.

Been plenty of Cats player family members on Costa's payroll.

Also, some rather favourable property deals...
yep.

Come to think of it.... Salary cap is like 17 million dollars in 2024 and 17.7 million dollars in 2025.

Look at the Cats list.... How many Blokes you see are on 4 or 5 year deals at $500-$600,000 a year?

Then again, Would you want to be a Crows listed player on $500-$700,000 a year buying cheap property at Taperoo or Elizabeth or Davoren park? lol

Mentioned on the radio this afternoon Ken thinks his tenure will be over if they don't at least make a Prelim. And also that WC are prepared to offer a longer term contract to secure him?

I guess if the WC rumours are legit, the power won't have to pay out his contract?

Hard to believe he can walk out on the power and go straight to WC after 12 years. Most coaches that have made career changes or been sacked have needed to take a bit of time off to clear their heads

TBH I find it all a bit weird
That was all just Tom Morris spit balling.

Just make sure to remove the distributor caps from your cars as they can't steal them then when they riot
I rather Park my car in the Garage to be safe.

I stll remember 15 years ago some crazy young kid decided to slash tyres around the Western Suburbs. That person stared off with normal residents, then went up a notch and went more Brazen.

That person decided to slash tyres from Motorcycles... Owned by bikie gangs!

They are always such understanding types too...not

Where are you getting the Don Pyke doesn't want him from? Ken would be a very good coach for them for 3-4 years given where they are right now. They don't need to worry about his finals record right at the moment, that's years away and they can give him 1 crack at it and then move him on if it fails.
If he went to West coast it'd be awesome if they won a flag. Imagine the melts

This is what shits me with AFL media.

“Little leverage”?

Either Geelong pays up or Smith stays with Bulldogs or goes to Richmond. Or North. Or St Kilda. Or Melbourne. Or Essendon.

Edmund clearly being fed by Geelong.

I’m sure he’s also the “journalist” saying about Lukosius that it is definitely not a Jack Bowes situation when it looks exactly like a Jack Bowes situation

Edmund is just doing PR for his favourite clubs.
