Not worthy of headlining the biggest sporting event of the year. Look, I'm happy to go with nothing, but if you're going to have someone playing music, then they need to measure up. No current Aussie act comes close.
Kamahl says hi

If that's true, that's a very sad state of affairs.
It's definitely true and i like birds of tokyo
Killers were good in 2017, although i get ptsd when i hear their music now
Thought Robbie Williams was excellent last year
I've seen katy perry live with my daughter and she played a good show, i even knew over half the songs despite it not being my type of music

$50/head for 5 songs sounds about right given concert ticket prices. Plus she's entertaining al the FTA viewers for nothing. There's not a single Oz band worthy of performing at what is an international event. Should be free to busk outsude the stadium though.

An international event?

Nobody outside of Australia even knows AFL exists.

I wish we’d just showcase Aussie bands. Seems like an opportunity lost.
I was at Parkway Drive tonight. They'd be awesome.

Probably not ideal for the 50 thousand corporates at the GF though.

Literally what I came here to post. Book Parkway you cowards.

But seriously, how ****ing good were they tonight?

Yeh, the Werribee bound birds of Tokyo are a more renown artist than Katy Perry. Like it or not, for years the AFL has been trying to make sure the AFL GF is a sporting event of significance on the international landscape. They choose artists/performers that create their own news item. Which country town BoT might be playing in tonight isn’t newsworthy anywhere except that town.

That’s not true, our GF makes news bulletins across the globe. But regardless of how much impact it has, the AFL continues to work to increase it. Making it an opportunity to showcase unknown local talent doesn’t fit the strategy. Well known international artists do. That’s just how it is.

Bullshit. You could come up with a list a mile long of quality Aussie acts. They've got Katy Perry playing this year. Who the hell wants to listen to that garbage ?? Utter trash. The best act of recent times that the AFL have had at the GF was Birds of Tokyo in 2013. That was seriously good. And there's plenty more out there.
Kiss and Robbie rocked the place, no way was Birds of Tokyo was better in terms of getting the place humming and that’s what it’s all about. I was at a pub for both games and they went off

We got to the bar near our seats just as Kiss started. We were going off my watch which hadn't re-synced the time with my phone, so we were 30 minutes later than we thought we were.

Did they play much of their older stuff, last couple of albums haven't really hit the spot for me ??
They played a few from Killing With a Smile and Horizons.

Agree that Atlas was their last really good album.

What's the deal with this rumour of a coach swap at the end of the game? Fagan to port Hinkley to Brisbane?

Hinkley has a daughter up there he wants to spend time with.

Any truth?

Quite possible.

We'll see just how good he is with that list, perhaps minus Daniher
