Is Jenkins coming back to the club?
Aaahhhh yes .....that goose Jenkins who had an inflated POV of his position at the club ....and felt it was his responsibility to stand up for the kids on the list, by leaking information to the media

A Man has to Know his limitations .gif

I wonder if his time at Geelong taught him humility.
I think Josh thought he'd be part of GEEL's 22 .....given he was such a focol point aat the Crows .....I'm sure he would be reflecting different now ....and probably moreso as time pass's in 10 years time

Bit of an inglorious exit from the AFL

His time at Geelong just makes his behaviour in 2019 look even worse in hindsight. Their list managers got sucked in but at least the coaches/selection panel didn't indulge him. Playing at Adelaide must have gave him the same entitlement complex that a lot of our senior players had at the time. Thankfully we've nearly fully purged these guys from the list.

That said, Jenkins was a key part of our mid-2010s growth and success as a team. We are yet to replace him with anyone close to his ability as a Tall Forward/Back-up Ruck (obviously Thilthorpe has the potential to be better).

He had some good games and wasn't our worst player overall, but at times he was

At his peak he was good for 40 goals a year and it's hard to replace that kind of output. I didn't rate him as a backup ruck though.

He was probably a free hit for them. They're in a window and a guy that can kick goals in a dominant team is offered up for zero cap space. They got nothing positive from him but I can't see how he would have had a negative impact either.

I still think Jenkins was a useful player, but he was one of those players that could make a functional team better. A "cream on top" sort of player that could add value when things were firing on all cylinders.

When they weren't, he was pretty useless.
Sort of.

Kicked 40 goals in 2014 when we were rubbish and 46 in 2018 when we were worse.

But his bad games were as bad as anyone not named Rory Atkins.

He also had a habit of suddenly playing a blinder for a week or two, leaving you wondering where that kind of effort the rest of the time.

I liked him for different reasons.

I will never forget the bet that Sportsbet had offered on him at $7 to kick a "Joe the Goose" goal. ie. From inside the goalsquare.

Suffice to say they never had that bet ever again lol.

I remember seeing his first game at footy park against geelong I think it was
Looked like he could be anything.

I don't know if I heard it here or somewhere else, but apparently Sportsbet shut your account down if you win too much. That is so ****ed up.

Yes I've heard that.

Basically some people who bet by odds, line margins cleverly go from sports bet company to sports bet company but eventually get shut down from all.

Yet if you keep losing they keep taking your money.

Seems like prime territory for aliases. ;)

Seriously though, how is that legal? There is no cheating involved.

Partially correct.

They will limit your bet sizes when you win on a consistent basis when odds are first released. Definitely will do this with exotic bets like Jenkins goals from the goal square.

I will add though the closer towards gameday the more money you can place with SB, on actual game day you can bet $1000s in some cases especially with bets on head to head games to win outright. Its because the odds have settled and they can manage their books with money for and against a team. I tend to do this arbitrage form of betting where I win regardless of the result, ie I back both teams. You do this by taking good early odds of one team and then back the other team on game day. However you cant do this with the same bookie otherwise they will 100% ban you. It can come unstuck if you get it wrong and dont know what your doing.

Ive been permabanned from Ladbrokes and its affiliates for winning. Im not allowed to bet with them at all.

That would have been set up by the work experience kid! :)

There was a bet a few years back - god I can't recall the teams / game: Port/Bulldogs? where they were offering stupid odds like $400 for a 40+ win by one of them (Bulldogs?). I put a few bucks on it, but Sportsbet cancelled it a day or so later.

Gambling companies can dish out pain but can't handle it coming back the other way.
