Hard to know how to read that but to me Bicks is saying Drew is better than Williams? Which has proved to be correct.

Read it that way first, but it doesn’t make sense in reality. He’s saying that Drew is better than SPP and then lists a bunch of players that have serious talent. If not read that way then then there’s nothing to apply the final statement to.

Rumours circulating that the Saints may go after Ross Lyon.

I guess this time they might get to sack him before he quits them.

Can we try and not poke fun out of a player who's just been delisted?

Especially when it comes to Frederick boys as they're good friends of my son, so yes I'm biased!!!!
Maybe you could enlighten them gently on the nature of humility then.

If the outcome of a review is "this guy can't coach, but our list is s**t and we suck" you don't just sit there and keep the coach because there are bigger issues.

You sack the coach, sack list management, try again.

What St Kilda did is ruthless and what a club aiming for success should do
If you were a highly rated assistant, why would you want to go there to be a head coach?
They’re doomed to hire another spud

If I was them, I would be trying to round up past champions like Lockett, Riewoldt, Winmar etc back to the club to get some sort of sense of what the club was about and where it needs to go as it seems their board and management are just bereft of any form of capability

They can get the Saints Disco up and firing again.

So we only got a “C” rating for our trade period given we lost Frampton (??) and weakened our 2023 draft hand (double ????).

Seriously, all these footy experts in the media, no matter whether it is radio, print etc have little or no idea.

When you see Essendon, Hawks, Saints, Sydney, Dogs, Melbourne ratings then clearly whoever wrote the article has no idea

Still think people missed the point of what Doerre was doing, i didn't necessarily agree with everything he said about other clubs but the exercise was he first published what he thought every club needed to do in free agency/trade week, then he's assessed each team against that, not against the other 17 teams.
So in advance he said we needed small forward x factor, and big bodied midfielder and midfied x factor, so he only gave us a C cos we only ticked off the first one and aren't particularly set up to meet the other needs in the draft. Fair enough, I tend to agree, but was always going to be difficult cos we were hamstrung by needing to pay a high price for Rankine ( a former no 2 pick), tight list spots, no attractive trade outs and wanting to hang onto 2023 draft hand.

Why give up a cushy gig in the footy media to go and coach the Saints?
Ego & money.

Will be interesting to see how he goes after being out of the game for a while.

Most sides are trying to attack more now... which is hardly a Lyon philosophy.

That was my first thought

Maybe he’ll do what Roos did at Melbourne - tighten them up defensively then work on attack

Bit like Essendon choosing Brad Scott. He wasn’t exactly praised for his game style when he left North, but his experience overall will probably be good for the team as a whole

Both will need some good up to date assistants around them you’d think

Saints did nothing of note during the trade period

They’ve now reached out to Jason Cripps at Port to see if he’ll play a role in their list management team

Meanwhile James Gallagher is pondering whether he can live in Adelaide and commute to Melbourne as their list manager

I think we all know the answer to that question James

Did you dream this?
