geez, clutching at straws now. Telling a player that abortion is an alternative to being a parent is not providing medical advice. And the other sentence is laughable. It would very much depend on the relationship and the context of the discussion.
Nope. You're categorically wrong. Fair Work would have my balls in a sling if I said what is alleged to have been said to one of my staff.

We're not talking about mates here. There's a specific employer/employee relationship. A power imbalance. It's that imbalance that underpins racism, sexism, disability discrimination, even domestic violence. It's that imbalance that causes the need for anti discrimination laws.

The sad thing is that as an AFL industry if you put together the comments from the media reaction regarding Rankine trade request and being “poorly advised”, all their condescending concern for him and being able to “live up to the price tag” and needing to stay on the Gold Coast in a bubble away from a complicated family unit and influences who could derail his career only a few weeks ago and look at them through the lens of the Hawthorn allegations. Wow!

They were distasteful and disrespectful, but very few called them out at the time they all just piled on like lemmings because well, “Adelaide”, and the most “shocked” of the media by the Hawthorn story were also some of the most vocal about Rankine.... there would be a few people looking in their rear view mirrors hoping those dots aren’t connected in the mainstream.

Jon Ralph’s first reactive article may need to be buried too, as he was one of most critical.

The hypocrisy of it is hard to watch, but hopefully out of all of this it leads to positive change across the board.

I don't think it will be difficult to gather evidence to proove/disproove the main allegations.

Emails.
Mobile phone records.
Health records.

When 3 separate witnesses & their partners have come forward with similar stories, that seems like more than a coincidence...
Emails, only if it came directly from Clarko or Fagan.

Phone records, again unless it came from them and it stated something that could be used to prove an allegation.

Health records is tricky, again telling your Doctor/GP that Person X said or did A,B,C is still their word versus Person X.

Similar stories, I definitely agree with you here, however my understanding is that the stories are not similar, I could be wrong. Did they suggest multiple times to have an abortion to different player's partners or players themselves?

Kane Cornes literally said we were only going after Rankine because of the Eddie/Camp stuff. Quite a large red flag there that was just glossed over by everyone.

Personally I wasn't sure why the club didn't go harder or have a legal team reach out to Cornes.

This sort of crap could have threatened the deal, suggesting we went for Rankine based on 'racial grounds'.

Easily. All it takes is for numerous other conversations/events to be forgotten or omitted that had occurred within those events. You've obviously lived a charmed life where you've not had a person you've cared for involved in a disfunctional relationship. It's ok, you're comfortable acting upon a one sided investigation, I've seen this kind of s**t, it's easy for me to see how this can occur without it being a heinous act.

the bolded bit is exactly where the battle lines will be drawn.

Easy to imagine at least the possibility that there might have been conversations between player and coaches that pre-date events, and that haven’t been disclosed between player and partner

Particularly if they shared information not expecting this sort of blow up

IF a player has been unloading at work, over a period of time, about difficulties at home, he’s not exactly going to go home and tell his partner about it.

"ABC Sport put detailed questions about the allegations in this story to Clarkson, Fagan and Burt but at time of publication none had responded."

They gave them 24 hours. That’s a joke

They rightly declined.

He's a journo, they have no obligation to respond and I'd strongly argue that providing any context or defence material would be a huge breach of trust and privacy. If they refuse to engage with the external investigation then you'd have a point.

This journalist has no ability to provide material and details to them, from which they can reasonably respond.
