The AFL and AFL media have always been piss weak whenever they talk about the Essendon doping program. It was systematic cheating and they talk about it like a tragic accident.

Boys club and several prominent supporters are Bomber fans. It shows what a backwater sport AFL is in International terms when this is even considered a possibility - and the governing body hasn’t stepped in and just put it out of the question

And how pathetic Essendon are to even pursue it - he wasn’t an above average coach when he did coach, now hasn’t coached for 7 years and he is going to be better?

Hird is the worst possible choice - it boggles the mind. Shouldn't he have been banned from coaching for life? Wasn't the compulsory course for prospective AFL senior coaches introduced specifically because of Hird's allowance of a doping program?

Do what is bleeding obvious and have the National elite competition with 14 teams.

Result is the biggest spuds are removed and you haven't had to bastardize the game to 14 a side.

But this solution would take leadership, vision and the best outcome for the game. Whereas we know the AFL is only interested in whats best for the Victorian teams.

The AFL primary mission is broadcast rights. Centralised money is power and those rights are the biggest piece of the pie. They don't care about anything else unless it impacts that earn. You reckon goal review is a screw up? It's not if the outrage results in more viewers. Everything they do is purposeful.

Why are sooky players' contracts so easy to break?

I'm done with players' contracts.They're farcical, unless there's a clause where it says a player can do as he heckin'gwell pleases, there needs to be significant compensation paid to the club from the player who chooses to break the contract.

Otherwise what's the point of having a contract?

Last week I saw Hird claim that the issues at Essendon during his tenure were the result of "two bad men", I am guessing he's referring to Dank and The Weapon (Dean Robinson).

The fact that 10 years later that Hird still refuses to accept any culpability for what happned shows that he's learned nothing and should never coach again.

The sad thing is that he'll most probably get the job and a large portion of their supporter base will be overjoyed about it.

I have always thought he drug cheated while playing. Some of those games late in his career were very suspect.
