According to Rucci, Port apparently already have Dunkley's name on a Locker at Alberton.

If the mail is correct that he's going to Brisbane the aftermath is going to be hilarious.
i think he was taking the piss with that comment, he just came up with someone because he was being pressed

No ....Rucci was serious about Dunkley to Port :padlock: .....just didn't want to go into detail of why he was so confident

Yeah, I’m not sure that’s entirely true.

Hird is a favourite son at Essendon. There’s a lot of Essendon people who don’t agree with what happened to him.

I’m not debating the merits or otherwise of bringing him back, just saying it wouldn’t be as unpopular as most people seem to think.
Maybe second time round he’ll do a better jab of it

Late edit: must have been a typo😜

isn't this the guy that GC gave up their pick 11 priority pick to geelong for a late 20's pick to draft this guy. If so, what a monumental waste of the draft wrecking handout they were given. they should never be given draft freebies again if this was the player they picked after that horrendous pick trade as it shows really how little they care for picks

Fremantle are real suckers for punishment

All the pressure is on the dogs, they've offered a big contract, enticed the player to come out publically, so now they have to do the deal even if means paying overs.

Why do the dogs want him anyway?
Naughton, JUH, Darcy, Bruce and English already.
Particularly with Darcy.

There are plenty of other sides who need a forward/ruckman. Eg. Saints to team up with Marshall with Ryder retiring. Dees get someone to do a similar role to Jackson. Dons badly need someone. Etc.

Yes, but back to GWS.

Now he wants to head to Melbourne. Think his partner has already moved back there.
Sounds like someone has a front ended contract and is looking for the next payday

Last week I saw Hird claim that the issues at Essendon during his tenure were the result of "two bad men", I am guessing he's referring to Dank and The Weapon (Dean Robinson).

The fact that 10 years later that Hird still refuses to accept any culpability for what happned shows that he's learned nothing and should never coach again.

The sad thing is that he'll most probably get the job and a large portion of their supporter base will be overjoyed about it.
What is with the obsession (of some people) with making Hird Essendon coach again? He had a hand in the most disgraceful scandal of the AFL era - an entire AFL side getting BANNED by WADA for doping. Re-appointing him is a ridiculous idea. Just cut him loose and move on to another, untarnished coach.

Hanging onto the past seems to be an issue with Victorian clubs who can't accept that the days of buying VFL flags are over.

Playing at two AFL clubs is not ideal, but I can grudgingly accept it. Playing at three or more clubs means you're a mercenary or a spud.

AFL football is not like any other career. As a supporter I still respect old-fashioned club loyalty and playing for the jumper and your teammates.
