Isn’t the mro the problem?
We need to get rid of Christian if we are a change of significant change.
I tend to see things like the MRO and the rule committee as taking their cues from the AFL head office and having no real autonomy of their own. Christian will just be replaced by some other talking head who implements the AFL's shitty ideas and then we'll be complaining about that person instead.

Remember when Michael Voss was coach at Brisbane and they were shit, and then he became an assistant coach at Port and they became shit? It's no wonder Carlton are racking up the possessions but getting **** all to show for it on the scoreboard, and specialist key forwards are kicking around their bodies directly in front to miss.

The "reasonably forseeable" line is a perfectly lawyered phrase that basically means "we get to make up the outcome we want". They've used it countless times this year.
It's reasonably foreseeable that the next time I get behind the wheel, I could commit an act or omission that results in a stranger's horrible death. But I, like other licensed drivers, am still allowed to drive because we're trusted to use the privilege responsibly and lawfully. Footballers should be allowed to contest the football.

I really think we're asking too much of AFL players to weigh up reasonable foreseeability and all this other legalese KC stuff in a split second when they're going in to legitimately contest the ball.

You're very odd posting here all the time bagging Port. Why don't you bag us on your own board?
Dumb Crocodile, why don't you bag him on yours?
I welcome --- nay --- I encourage opposition supporters to bag Port in here .
The more trash in that bag, the harsher the comments, the more often, the better.

I guess I am shocked a bit ( like most) and just trying to figure out his next move
I'm not surprised that Hardwick has jumped off a sinking ship.

It's news, but the frenzy of excited speculation --- Ooo, what will he do? What will PA do? etc --- is irrelevant and annoying to me.

Personally, I couldn't give a Blighty's tossbag what he does next year, or any other year, or what Port does with Hinkley or not. PA are 8-2, playing well, riding the wins, goodonem but meh; I'd rather see them at 2-8 and hurting.
I loathe how the AFL and their Umpires aided and abetted Richmond's Flag in 2017, which loss still burns. Hardwick was a grub as a player and taught his players how to grub their way to wins while exploiting every AFL hand-up on the way.

I'm usually objective, but Hardwick, Richmond, PA and Hinkley can all gagf.

Port supporters can’t come on the Adelaide board to say what west Coast supporters can and can’t post

Do that on the Geelong board
The fact that Eagles posters posting on a Crows board really pisses of Port posters, I can only wish now that Eagles post on here more regularly.

Well it probably helps that you don’t get infractions on here like you do if you tell the truth on the Port board.

I mean after all, they are a bunch of snowflakes over there on the Port board.

“It’s not a genuine attempt to contest the ball. It’s reasonably foreseeable a player chasing the ball like Rozee was - bent down and low to the ground - was going to be impacted in the manner he was.”

And this is the problem. Rozee leads with the head, and the AFL says you can’t then initiate contact with him because in doing so, he will get hurt.
Hunter was contesting the ball as any player is taught to, especially in the era of trying to avoid head contact. I honestly don't understand what else he could have done.

The AFL are juggling billions - yes, billions - of dollars of potential CTE lawsuits on one side, and the fabric of the game on the other.

I don't envy them. But I hope there's a better way than what we're seeing. The game is genuinely cooked.

Even if Hardwick needs an extended break - well-deserved if you ask me - he'll still need a job eventually. He will have the pick of football-related jobs anywhere in Australia: coach, assistant coach, director of coaching or football boss, media, anything he desires. Good luck to the bloke.

He actually just stood still

Rozee clattered into him

Yes Rozee was going for the ball but I agree with you, not sure what other options Hunter had

Is Adelaide Oval planted with Santa Ana couch? I recall reading that during the redevelopment. Or does that only apply to the cricket pitch?
I think the outfield is a mix of Santa Ana couch and rye grass. The pitch just couch grass

Wouldn't think so. Couch and Buffalo pretty much go dormant once temperatures drop below about 18 degrees

yea you are right, i was looking at something else for the surface

Marc Pitonet with a 4 year deal?
Bodes well for DeGoneing
Strange contract. Pittonet is a great ruck but is totally useless around the ground. You'd think Carlton would want an upgrade in that position at some point in the next 4 years

The problem is that the AFL has put the onus 100% on the player standing there. The player bent over has no responsibility to protect themselves. They should. Instead they drive forwards with their head down trying to make contact so they draw a free kick. It's mental.

Besides, Rozee plays dead about 5 times a game. He will try to draw a head high contact by initiating the contact, throw his head back and collapse onto the ground like he's been knocked out cold. Only to jump up moments later once the free kick has been secured.

I don't see why this is so hard for the AFL, they realised (at the tail end of Selwoods career) that players were ducking into tackles so they tried to get that out by penalising the ducking act as prior opportunity. And I get that we must protect the player trying to win the ball but we can't have players doing what Rozee is doing because it's only going to take being hit slightly wrong and the kid will end up in a chair
