You held firm. They were a good team. But a lot of their results, I mean my goodness. Look at their percentage, defence etc.
Weaknesses masked by the jet mids.

Too many holes in the team filled by mediocre players. The 13 wins were built on the back of wins against good teams in the wet and overrated come from behind wins against the likes of Essendon. It was their midfield that were relied upon to run them to victory. I said point blank they'd get overrun by good teams in the dry and I was right. We flogged them on the run and we werent even a finals side. Carlton showed us their true colours.

Anyone who thinks a few trades of 2nd rate B grade players will be the missing pieces for a premiership have learned nothing from Ports 11 year run under Hinkley.

Fair points but I think the bolded helps GWS more than Port.

2017 Richmond lost to us by 7 goals and most here took that formline into GF thinking ( early in the year granted) but I always felt - and still feel - sides learn more from losses than wins. Geelong losing at home to Port by a point or 2 in 2007 was the impetus to smash Port in the GF

But you may be right that Port wont be complacent because of the 9 goal win and Giants are indeed at that level to Port
