I always shake my head when media commentators use the reasoning "who else is out there that would do a better job?" when defending Kern.
Could have used the same rationale to keep Leon Cameron over an untried Adam Kingsley.
Or a Bucks over McRae
How did the Swans justify an 'untried' Longmire?
Hawks trying an untried Al Clarkson?

Seriously. It's the laziest excuse, and i've heard it multiple times.

AFL 2023: Latest trade news, Jacob Koschitzke requests trade

A Hawks goalkicker could be Richmond’s replacement for Jack Riewoldt, plus the latest on Todd Goldstein, Dylan Shiel, Esava Ratugolea as trade talk heats up.

I reckon that's a fairly cynical view. Do you know any of the board members from either club personally? Spoken with them? As much as you bag Chappy (and rightfully so at times), he loved our club, he cried for it. I reckon he would have bled for it too. His problem was he was here too long. I think Olsen shows (now, I realise he's a politician) a great attachment to the Club and is fighting hard for us. Unfortunately, BOTH Clubs are still within the AFL constraints for another few years until the licenses are handed back. That will be the telling time I think, where they return the Club to the fans (or if they find a way not to).

Wanting good and being good for the club are very different things

Rucci made a comment the other day which revealed where they are at… basically they still remember how bad it was before Ken.

Their survival and business plan relies on them being in or around the top 8 and the danger of a bottom 4 finish leading to multiple bottom 4 finishes would be a disaster for them.

Obviously avoiding a deliberate and complete rebuild like ours isn’t a bad thing but I guess it means playing it safe makes sense for them.

They want to win trade weeks, the draft, the preseason and ultimately sell memberships. They cant afford risking top 8 to be top 1.

Our rebuild wasn’t deliberate, but other than that you’re spot on

They can’t afford to get someone worse than Hinkley.

The risk of getting an untried assistant is very high, and there’s no point going down that road unless you have to

The Hinkley era has been pretty good for them.

Before Hinkley there was Primus! Yuk

Kochie sounded frustrated that he had to answer yet more questions about Ken.

Like he's been asked them over and over and over again. Like he has fans screaming at him over it on a daily basis. Like he has seen someone put a Sack Hinkley sign on the club.

The bloke is that deluded and that insulated from any external criticism that when it starts seeping through he goes into a full blown defensive meltdown

David Koch actually reminds me of some posters on here who can’t handle club criticism. Get defensive, deflect, lie, compare to others, make excuses, try and shut down criticism and put posters on ignore.

It’s uncanny really.
May Kochie continue his long reign at Port with finals flopping Kenny.

2023 J.J. LISTON TROPHY

26: Jarryd Lyons (Brisbane Lions)
24:
Boyd Woodcock (Southport Sharks)
21: Tom Gribble (Werribee)
21: Lachlan Sullivan (Footscray)
19: Shaun Mannagh (Werribee)
18: Luke Dunstan (Casey Demons)
17: Paddy Dow (Carlton)
17: Harvey Hooper (Port Melbourne)
15: Jacob Dawson (Southport Sharks)
14: Callum Brown (Box Hill Hawks)
14: Oliver Dempsey (Geelong Cats)
14: Brayden Crossley (Southport Sharks)

Koch then tried to justify it by saying that the club was initially angry at Rowie's comments,
Why would anyone give a toss about something Rowie said?

Apparently Dunston cut by the Dees.

Poor career decision not to choose the Hawks.

I think one of Port's issues is managing expectations. They somehow got their supporters to believe they have this unbeatable list, so all of the criticism is directed at Ken and the admin for not removing Ken. The truth is you're unlikely to win a flag with a shitty backline and a cooked ruck. There are also question marks about their much vaunted midfield which got pansted when the pressure of finals was applied.

The suitors for Ben McKay is down to two,
I’m guessing it’s the sanfl and vfl?

What are the odds he will be traded Grundy Pies style a couple of years after signing a crazy deal.

He is really not a top tier player.

Surprised he didn't roll out the "if you don't like it, go support (the other team)" line.
