May is the same height as Howes.
I did edit the comment but you were too quick - Was more referencing 'tall types' given Howes is agile and generally plays on mid-sized forwards, whereas May usually gets the main key forward and also can't bend over at all anymore.

Don't think we lose much with Howes out of the side tbh. It's a real shame we lost AMW cause we've got very little in the way of small/medium defenders at Casey.

It's not a defence of Howes, it's a question of playing 4 talls, none of which are good at ground level, in a team that absolutely sucks for defensive ground balls.

If Bowey can lift this year, Lindsay perhaps play more off half back, McVee back from injury, and if they actually give Sestan a crack then I'd much rather see things like that than try and play May as a half back when he has to kick the ball off the deck every time because he can't pick it up.

I think if we're going to get killed at ground level anyway, someone like Howes isn't going to do much to save us. So accept the weakness for what it is and try and do something different that we can use as a strength.

Definitely feeling Mcvee's absence though. Would be okay if we want to put Lindsay back there, but he did look like a weapon on the wing last week. Sestan is still playing forward at Casey, yeah?

Again, I'm not defending Howes or saying he's a must have, I'm just saying I don't class him as a "tall" defender. You'd think he's first out when McVee is ready hopefully.

Sestan has been training with the backline this preseason, he's played there previously, they've moved him around a bit over the journey. He's not a world beater, but he's a decent ground level player, but just doesn't seem to be one of 'Goody's boys' so doesn't seem a high chance to get a shot. Had a good run of form forward last year, was applying pressure, kicking goals, but Goody persisted with Billings, Laurie & Co of course.

Until McVee is back, I wouldn't be against getting Langdon back on the wing full time, play Sharp on the other one full time, and get Lindsay (75% kicking efficiency) setting up play off half back.

Geelong players claiming that as a goal, dirty bastards. Wouldn't see Melbourne players doing that.
Lever would be screaming TOUCHED in the goal umpires ear.

Why would old mate want Lindsay to go back now lol I ****ing don't understand this.
Setting up play off half back is irrelevant if the whole team isn't geared to attack. Same example as I used with Tmac kicking to Sparrow who killed the attack anyway. I think we need to move anyone we can who's half dangerous as close to goal as possible not further. Moving then to defence feels like we're putting there to safely chip it around

Tbf with a different coach I think we could
I think watching the talent of other teams it's getting painfully clear how little the development of players in our team has been in 5 years. Outside of Kozzy it's the same too 5-7 players we are relying on and they're all either older, been figured out like Lever or Oliver
