That Collingwood pressure is insane though.

I think it's gonna take a while for us to get to and above that insane manic pressure and capability to string quick bursts of quality footy together.

Pies have a decent set up for current AFL. Fast mids/smalls that don't stop running/tackling. Good talls down back but maybe need a big fwd like Geelongs Cameron/Hawkins to aim at.

I think this is where the Cats can take advantage finally.

Lions on their day could match Geelong but at the G I can't see it

yes, we are a season or two off as it is. I like that Culley has a bit of mongrel. I think we are coaching Clark through the WAFL be part of it. Must draft pace.

Looking back on their season, the lid coming off after a win against North at home early in the year you knew it was never going to happen for them.

A Sydney vs Brisbane GF would be amazing. Unfortunately the likely result is Geelong vs Sydney.
Geelong vs Collingwood is absolute worst case scenario.
Collingwood vs Brisbane could be epic but the MCG factor would ruin Brisbane.

You would expect Sydney to get over the Pies but with some difficulty (60:40 perhaps). This could be the match of the series. The Pies have a significant edge in experience and this could be telling. But, the Cats should destroy Brisbane unless it is the choke of the ages.

The Pies frenetic style allows the other team to get them going the other way, hence the dozen games in a row decided by a goal or so. Fremantle have a poor forward line so couldn't take advantage.
I think Sydney are just as good at the pressure game and will create enough opportunities to win.

SCG has been a fortress this year for the swans and they ended the pies unbeaten run a month ago with ease .

It will be a good game but swans to win .

Think Geelong game goes either way .

Brisbane have some belief after breaking the MGC hoodoo and Geelong have well known issues coming off a bye .

Yep - that's how we beat then earlier in the year. They turned the ball over going forward (as they were still learning the gameplan) and we beat them the other way.

I think they'll miss finals. They were really poor to end the year and the gameplan doesn't seem to work. Bulldogs should have beat them week 1 (but are also a poor team) and both finals Freo has failed to turn up to start the game (or at all really for the semi final).

Lose Lobb and that's their best tall forward gone. Logue might go too who is playing as a third tall. I don't see how they can take the next step if they can't score.

Freo are a hard one to guess. Lobb & Acres had probably their best years in the AFL with both contributing strongly to Freos year and if both leave then thats a blow to Freo. Logue isn't a forward but not sure there's room in their backline either so he's in no man land. Mundy's had a good year & he gone, Fyfe is like Shuey in that he's a real positive if there but isnt there enough whilst Tabener is really a third tall up forward (if he gets a good run at it). They're also likely to lose depth in Tucker and possibly Henry whilst if Jackson comes Meek will likely go out.

Yes they have some really talented youngsters but you can't replace what is going out even if Jackson arrives. They have also been lucky with the injury gods this years & that doesn't happen too many years in a row.

Sure Erasmus & Johnson are looking for opportunities but they are both young & not without their flaws. So expecting them to come in and seamlessly replace Mundy, Fyfe, Tucker, Acres et al is rather optimistic.

Injuries to some prime movers will have a significant effect like it does for all teams

Hey Bond

Since you are apparently connected to the club, does the Hagdorn article suggesting we are going in unchanged next year hold any weight?

Like I said last night. They were minutes away from finishing in the top four yet they have an apparent player exodus happening. I don't get it

FIGJAM factor with Fyfe in addition to contract disparity among the group is the rumour that I have heard.

I still feel the Fremantle overachieved this year and remain 3-4 years away from their best. They won't progress further until their key forward ranks are improved - the Dockers had the lowest metres gained per disposal average this year - which is at odds with their fast gameplan.

Not just pace. Look at the tackling. Pressuring.

Yes, and it is pace that enables them to apply that pressure, speed and acceleration to get from one contest to another - you must have it, or
teams just waltz out of defence and through the midfield, as they do against us. This draft must be about injecting elite pace and running endurance to the team.

Nah it’s because they are 100% getting Jackson and salary cap is going to be too tight.
