It’s a valid point. Even fuel seems to be cheaper over there than in Melbs 😤

I live in Geelong, fuel is definitely cheaper most of the time. I think its more that the servos put the prices down when it comes down quicker than Melbourne. I reckon Melbourne servos gouge you a bit longer before bringing down their prices.

So what is Geelong currently looking at, losing Selwood, Dalhaus, Higgins, Narkle, Evans and a few non-starters and replacing them with Bruhn, Oliver, Bowes and possibly pick 7?

They'll get younger and, while replacing Selwood is a complicated prospect because he is much more than the ailing on field player he was this year, they'll get a significantly stronger list having just won a flag.

I'm not entirely sure that there are cap difficulties in attempting all of this. Geelong isn't actually packed with stars in their respective primes, they are dads army after all. There are a lot of mature senior guys who have already made their money and who probably aren't playing elsewhere. Trying to bring in Grundy on $700 to $800 a year for 5 is another matter, particularly as there are other targets.

I don't think they'll need to do more than spread Bowes' money evenly over 3 years. Adding 1 extra year for a guy like that is not a bit deal (particularly given that he can play). They get to do that because they are Geelong. Bowes also gets to become a man and surf in real water.

I think I've got a bit of Stockholm Syndrome. I want to see them pull it all off and dominate. They need to show up the incompetence of the rest of the competition.
Many time has it occurred to me recently that these guys are playing chess and the rest of us are playing checkers.

It’s like they unlocked some formula that eludes the rest of the comp (Sydney a possible exception).

Cultural insensitivity is not racism, not unless you adopt a meaninglessly broad, relativist definition of the term.

Very basically, racism is negative discrimination, action or omission based on race. Just because a negative thing happens to a person who is in a minority demographic does not mean it was racist.

If he does the same things with all players how has he not been defamed as attempting to implement the stolen generation?

To not show the necessary sensitivities is racist, especially when you should know them.

The broad bland meaningless form of racism, as you term it, is the most insidious. It is what drives the sense of entitlement to disposes a people and then wipe out their culture. Doing this does not require an nword, hood or and negative feelings towards a particular individual.

Also, not allowing Mitchell to have a phone in a particularly difficult family situation is not on the same level as moving a young man to another house, cutting him off from his partner and inlaws and then advising he have an abortion for a pregnancy he was stoked about. Not remotely. That does have the hallmarks of the stolen gen ... which was committed by Christians who thought they were doing the right thing.

"Anything you say can and will be used against you"

This comes to mind when thinking about the Hawks right now, they really aren't helping themselves at all are they. Just digging a deeper hole.

3 weeks ago North were on top of the world. How quickly they've fallen apart.
You'd have to think sitting in no-mans land as far as coaches go would be playing on the mind of potential trade targets.

Are you getting Clarko, or some random assistant, or Clarko plus a shitload of baggage and media scrutiny?

If Horne Francis leaves the AFL has to do something about the player power.

In NFL first rounders get a 4 year deal, and after that are free agents(there's other things involved also), I feel like something along those lines would work better. 22yos ask for trades all the time anyway, just make them free agents earlier but give the club they get drafted to a chance.

isn't he only partway through his original 2 year deal? If a player wants to go a contract doesn't do much

Yeah, but atleast if they have a 4year deal it gives the club in this case North a chance to get proper value in a trade after 1 or 2 years.

With 2 year deals North aren't getting anywhere near pick1.
