Sydney will be smashed by that. Their older players looked past it and the only young guy who stood up was Warner, who am going to back for the 2023 Brownlow as soon as markets open.

I like to think we can close the gap to Collingwood and Sydney next year. Will then depend on whether Geelong can maintain this level and how much Carlton can improve.

I mean people every freaking year say Geelong are too old and slow. They smash that this season.
But Selwood out and Hawkins possibly, were not far off the top. Collingwood have a few retirements incoming. Don't believe their hype of rebuilding
Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Cox, Howe.

The fact Geelong won as there are no dynasties is the best thing. Melbourne who know what'll happen to them next season

I still can't believe Geelong are so old and still so good. They have many players at ages where the majority of players have fallen well off the cliff but almost none of theirs have. Not sure if it is just those individuals or if they are some secret sauce down there.

yeah I had them bottom half of the 8 this year.

Full credit to Geelong, as boring as it is to see them up there every year they just keep putting themselves amongst it and eventually it pays off.

The league would be infinitely more competitive and unpredictable if every club applied the same philosophy rather than the boom/bust cycle of gutting their lists and hoping they might be good in 5 years.

you have a lot more leeway when you have three recent premierships and a strong team base to play off.

Chris Scott leaves us and wins a premiership in his first year.

he doesn’t have the political capital to do what he’s done for 11 years with out that

They also got elite talent without top 5 picks in Danger and Cameron. The only reason to bottom out is to get that so when you don't need to, you have the luxury of cracking in every year.

Not hard but AFL players aren't always the sharpest tools in the shed

its not a Freo problem though, its just WCE problems generally get swept under the carpet
It get's more obvious how biased channel 7 is every year . On what planet does a Freo player with Cousins history get a job on 7's footy news?

We all start at zero in 2023.
No guarantees!
I’m hoping we improve, but am doubtful as we will lose too many players again.
I think the closer we get, the further away it is
We’ve all been saying the same thing about the Cats, too old and falling off a cliff.
Let’s wait and see who replaces those players.
Fyfe will be like a new recruit, Darcy won’t have to shoulder the ruck, and the
midfield will have a different dynamic.
Guys like Chapman, Young, are only going to get bigger, better in time.
There were times this year Lobb was our only tall forward, so thats of the
table.

I think the finals exposure will help our players and the realisation that we can beat the best away

Who are we losing of real significance next year? Acres is decent but thats about it. Lobb may be forced to stay play out his contract

None of the others a banging down the door for gun players. We have the growth of Amiss Eurasmus and Johnson over the next 3 plus years to establish themselves as Brayshaw Serong and Brodie peak.

Billy Brownless with a late surge to the top of the “biggest dickhead in AFL media” list here.
Max Holmes had every right to pour his pint on top of his dumbass head here after those questions.
Hawkins was like - get this ****er out of here - and I wouldn’t blame him

lol at the Hawforn thread on the MB.
Yep, there are enough clarkson apologists/people with Clarkson messiah complexes to sink a battleship! Apparently in Australian sport, if you are successful, all your past indiscretions magically disappear. It's like assaulting multiple people is not such a big deal. Yeah, nah, he's just a tough guy with a strong leadership style.
