geez. playing WC going forward with no Barrass or McLovin (can't be far off retirement, injury forced or age-related) to play key defender is going to be delicious for everyone. They're the only ones stopping a flood of goals every week.
And we're guaranteed 2 games a year vs them.

Barrass leaning towards Hawks because he knows at the Dogs he'll be stuck in the magoos praying for a Lobb injury.
Lobb to west coast?

I thought Edward’s looked ok against us and they still have Bazzo who is coming back from serious injury. Not a Barass level replacement but he was considered in the same conversations as JVR in that draft year.

West Coast defender Tom Barrass is leaning towards Hawthorn if he chooses to leave the Eagles despite a multi-million dollar offer believed to be on the table from the Western Bulldogs.
Sources have told The West Australian the Bulldogs are offering a five-year deal worth as much as $5 million to bring the 2022 John Worsfold medallist to the club.
But they have competition, with reports emerging this week that Hawthorn coach, who is a former assistant coach and player at the Eagles, flew to Perth to meet with Barrass on Monday.
Barrass, 28, is contracted until the end of 2027 in a deal he signed at the end of 2021 that was set to make him an Eagle for life.
There is now strong speculation that if the premiership defender does leave the Eagles, it would be to Hawthorn rather than the Bulldogs.
Barrass was linked to Sydney last year in a move that never eventuated, which led to the premiership defender publicly stating he wasn’t going anywhere.
“I am a West Coast Eagles player and unless the rug gets pulled out from under my feet I will stay that way,” Barrass said last month.
“I am really excited about what we are doing here and I am really excited about some of the talent.
“I think we have got some progress we still need to make … before we can be considered a good team.
“But I believe that we can do it and I believe that if we work as a team it is a closer than people probably perceive.”
The Bulldogs currently don’t have a first-round pick this year after offloading it to Gold Coast in a pick swap last year.
But they could get back in with the expected trade for out-of-contract star midfielder Bailey Smith, who is heavily linked to Geelong.
Uncapped East Perth-product Jedd Busslinger is also an option to add to the trade despite extending his contract by two years just weeks ago.
A move to the Bulldogs would also reunite Barrass with former Eagles assistant Daniel Pratt who is now at the Bulldogs where he is in charge of their defence.
Hawthorn only have one first round pick at this stage, but could trade future picks to lure him to the club to work with Mitchell and fellow former Eagles assistant Adrian Hickmott who were both part of the 2018 premiership.
The Hawks are believed to have more cash in theirs salary cap to spend as they also pursuit St Kilda defender Josh Battle who is a free agent.
Barrass will the clash against Gold Coast on Friday night because of a concussion.

I missed this. When did this happen?
When he was last out of contract, JL had chats with him to come to replace Mundy, with a view to join the coaching team when he wanted.

Was considered, then the pies gave him a better deal.

weee willa w*nkers, the Toast are in trouble if Waterman, Barrass or a few others jump ship. I'd argue they're in trouble anyway, but if they lose a few of their better players with what they currently have underneath.......oh mi gosh, look out. Be stinkin' up the joint more than chili chompin' skunks at a skinhead's moonstomp. Hooly doolies!

I was watching AFL360 tonight and they covered Pendlebury's 400th game. They were showing a photo shoot with the other greats that played 400 games and it made me jealous that Mundy wasn't there.

Could we have got him there? He had a long career with very few long injury lay-offs. Maybe he was slowing down a bit but he was still playing well.

Wasn’t good enough defensively by the end. Wouldn’t have played good footy even last year imo but I guess we’ll never really know.

Pendlebury has probably played an extra season worth of finals compared to Mundy. We really should’ve made finals more in the Connolly era and probably one or two extra times in the Ross Lyon era.

Probs just too far back what did he finish with 376 games.

If he was on 390 at end of 2022.

Then yeah we could have got him. He could have played the sub role 5 or 6 times and nursed him there.

But as another poster just said missing finals 12 seasons in his career compared to pendlebury who has probably had another seasons worth of games in finals

Just say we played 12 more finals across those 12 seasons like making the finals 6 times and playing two in those seasons

Would have got Mundy to 388-390 mark within reach to play him that extra year to get to 400.

West Coast are gonna get unprecedented, monumental floggings without Barrass and Waterman...

Ill Allow It GIF

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
