Boy, something weird is happening in the AFL control centre.

The talk was that Harley's tackle deserved a week but with his superstar status he'd probably get off. TBH 2 weeks seems overs to me.

I guess we just all keep searching for that mythical MRO/tribunal beast Consistency.
He body slammed a guy without the ball. There was no way Wilson could've protected himself. 2 weeks is fine.

i think if i had to rate teams from my biggest dislike to least it goes as follows

1.. Collingwood. - More for their past history at Victoria oval and their fans
2.. Essendon - their fans and the clubs dealing with the Performance enchancing drug years.
3.. Carlton - Simply cause they are arrogant, hard not to be when your memories are full of premiershipsd, but wake up it is the 21st century
4. Western Bulldogs - Always been a dirty team, lots of taggers using dirty tactics over the years.
5. Richmond- Their fans make me dislike them
6. Hawthorn - Because they beat us in GF.
7. St Kilda - Memories of how they were back in moorabin days. now it is mainly thier fans
8; Melbourne - as i dont know any Melb fans they gather less dislike LOL
9. North Melbourne - I feel sorry for them.
10.. Geelong - They not in melbourne so not as bad as other Vic teams
10. West Coast - They may be our rivals, but they still Western Australian
11, Geelong - They outside melbourne so not as bad as a Victorian
12. Adelaide - Got to love them as they not Victorian
13. Gold Coast - Gold Coast full of great memories for me , so any team from there i like.
14.. GWS - Orange is good colour :)
15.. Port Adelaide - When i lived in SA most people i knew supproted them so i chose them over Adelaide
16. Brisbane - I lived there for 16 yrs so grew to like them a lot.
17.. Sydney - they play in South Fremantle colours so i am biased .(they were my first VFL/AFL team)
mine is on a sliding scale

heres the warning...
Dont argue with the umps!
What else do they need to know?
The dissent rule and the stand rule need a warning added.
Warning, if they keep going then it’s 50. Unless it’s over the toon th em go straight to 50.

Both of those penalties are for natural biological reactions. It will reduce the inconsistencies in the way these are interpreted an applied.

It’s my opinion. Thanks for your input.

There truly has never been a more delusional bunch of supporters in history surely?
The irony of them loving his aggression in the contest, but crying when it get's him suspended. They want to have it both ways. And as usual The West has their full support.

if they challenge, then his two fines should be increased to suspensions

I had a laugh when I read one of them dismissing the tackle by stating Reid simply did a judo takedown that put Wilson on his back.

... I kinda think that might be the type of tackle the AFL would now prefer not to see ... hence the suspension.

I'm now curious what the Harley fanclub narratives will be, because I'm pretty sure it won't be Harley's fault in their eyes.
So will they blame the tag and lack of support from the umpires.
Or will they claim the sling tackle and suspensions for it being too harsh and making the modern game too soft?

Harley has been pushing the boundaries of what is legal on the park for weeks now.
He constantly dishes out cheap shots off the ball, but just with enough force to be annoying, but not likely to bring a free kick against. At the start of the season, I thought it was good to see a young player with so much skill and confidence, but my sentiment has changed over the weeks as he appears to think he is more entitled than other players (... and I believe that entitlement has been encouraged by the Eagles club culture / coaching / media / and/or favorable umpiring towards him).

As a Dockers supporter, I do often take some solace and experience some schadenfreude when things go bad for the Eagles. I claim that is a taught behaviour. But I can still acknowledge that Harley Reid is already a great footballer with exceptional skills, speed, power and football nous.
But I was also foreseeing a suspension was just around the corner for something ... which is not uncommon with many great players early in their career when they are trying to demonstrate their power and authority on the field.

That is, the challenge for Harley Reid and West Coast and their fans is to actually understand and see what is happening to this young man and to reign him in a little for his own good.

It's interesting that there is no comment in the media on the amount of dissent that Reid showed towards the umpires during the game. He gave them a mouthful several times including pointing his finger at them at one stage. The umpires don't take kindly to this kind of behaviour.

It would be in his own interest to pull his head in.

During last week's game, Jacko said Reid needed to pull his head in or face the consequences

For the love of God they are cringeworthy

Can you even imagine the howls for retribution and baying for blood if it was Back Page Boy on the receiving end of that tackle ?

They bloody sicken me

Apparently, the West is reporting that Harley tackled Wilson with such force, that Wilson deficated himself ...
"Reid latched onto his jumper and brought him to the turd in a slinging motion. The back of Wilson’s head hit the turf in the tackle."
